As an outstanding thinker and politician in the Northern Song Dynasty,Fan Zhongyan attaches great importance to moral education regardless of his place of residence and his duties.He has left us a valuable historical legacy in both moral education theory and practice.There is still a certain contemporary value.The formation of Fan Zhongyan's moral education has its special social and historical background.In the early years of the Song Dynasty,the diverse social environment,rich personal experience,educational practice and profound theoretical origins all played a vital role in the formation of Fan Zhongyan's moral education.Fan Zhongyan inherited the traditional Confucian concept of morality,and attached great importance to the priority of moral education.He emphasized that in the process of education,moral education is the first,and "the morality is the foundation of education" should be given priority.Regarding the content of moral education,Fan Zhongyan proposed to pay attention to the lenient love,the luxury and integrity education;at the same time,it is necessary to strengthen the optimistic education of "the worries of the world under the sorrow and the happiness of the world." In terms of the methods and principles of moral education,Fan Zhongyan believes that moral education must combine social education,school education and family education,and follow the basic principles of moral education,such as teaching students in accordance with their aptitude,respecting teachers,and preaching and teaching,so as to enhance the effectiveness of moral education.Fan Zhongyan's moral education thought not only has a certain historical status in the long river of history,but also has a very important era value for the social morality,professional ethics,family virtue and personal moral education in the new era.
