Scientific research is one of the most important functions of a college,and it is also a critical part of the career development of college teachers.The personality traits of college teachers have a significant correlation to their research performance.The Big Five personality theory divides individual personality traits into five basic types,which have different degrees of matching for scientific research.Therefore,to explore the influence of different personality traits on scientific research performance,and to find out its intrinsic relevance characteristics,it can provide a theoretical basis and realistic reference for the human resources management,teachers' career planning in colleges and the cultivation of "scientific research personality" in a targeted manner.The five components of the Big Five personality have had a certain impact on the four aspects of the scientific research performance of college teachers,but the degree and correlation of the influences of each variable have shown certain differences.The research shows that: First,the more extroverted,pleasant and groundbreaking personality traits of college teachers,the higher the performance of their scientific research input,while the more impartial personality traits college teachers have,the lower their scientific research input performance is.That is,college professors with extroverted,pleasant and pioneering personality traitshave invested more in scientific research time,and have obtained more vertical and horizontal topics,and more research funding.However,college teachers with impartial personality traits are not easy to obtain various research topics and funding,so the performance of scientific research investment is low.Second,college teachers with extroverted,pleasant and groundbreaking personality characteristics have higher scientific output performance,while impartiality and neuroticism are the opposite.That is,the more extroverted,pleasant and groundbreaking personality characteristics that the college teachers have,the more scientific papers,works,patents(invented discoveries)are published and scientific research awards are issued.And the more impartial and neurotic personality traits of college teachers are the opposite.Third,the more extroverted and innovative personality traits of college teachers,its scientific research benefits performance are higher.That is,the more extroverted and innovative personality traits,the more the scientific research behavior and scientific research achievements of college teachers can be transformed into economic benefits and social benefits more quickly.Fourth,the more extroverted,pleasant and groundbreaking personality traits of college teachers,their scientific research reputation performance is higher.That is,the more extroverted,pleasant and groundbreaking personality traits of college teachers,it is easier to obtain professional scientific research organizations part-time,titles,a variety ofacademic honors,but also easier to establish their academic status in the academic field.It can be seen that college teachers with pleasant,extroverted and groundbreaking personality traits have higher research performance.Therefore,in order to improve the scientific research performance of college teachers,colleges and teachers should strengthen the cultivation of "scientific research personality".First,we should innovate the mode of human resource management in colleges,and establish the management system with "personality capital" as the core.The second is to innovate the recruitment mechanism of scientific research teachers in colleges,and establish a system of talent selection indicators based on "personal factors".The third is to innovate the training system for scientific research teachers in colleges and establish a personality training mechanism with the aim of "scientific research adaptation".The Fourth,it is necessary for college researchers to emphasis on the development of scientific research personality to continuously accumulate personality capital suitable for scientific research activities.
