Using the competency theory and related methods for reference,the performance appraisal of teachers in higher vocational colleges has certain advantages compared with the traditional methods.It can fully combine the post characteristics of higher vocational teachers,pay attention to their personal abilities,and improve the scientific performance appraisal.Firstly,this paper takes the teachers of a higher vocational college as the research object.By combining literature,using behavioral event interview and questionnaire survey,the competency model of higher vocational teachers is constructed.The exploratory factor analysis method is used to validate the competency model.The result shows that the competency model has high reliability and validity,and its application in teachers’ performance appraisal has high value.Secondly,based on the competency model and through the analytic hierarchy process,the index weight of performance appraisal of higher vocational teachers based on the competency model is determined.Through this method,a performance appraisal index system which conforms to the competence and post characteristics of higher vocational teachers is formed.Finally,the performance appraisal system based on competency model is applied to concrete practice.The implementation of teachers’ performance management based on competency model has produced positive effects.On the one hand,it helps teachers to recognize their shortcomings in teaching,practice,scientific research and moral literacy,so as to improve their personal performance.On the other hand,through comprehensive and diversified performance management,it is helpful for the college to evaluate the teachers’ level objectively and impartially,to improve the teaching staff,to improve the quality of running a school,to train high-quality talents,and to promote the quality of vocational education.Ensuring the efficiency of human resource management by improving performance management.The efficiency of human resource management is positively correlated with economic benefits.The improvement of the quality and quantity of talents and the transformation of scientific research achievements in the educational output of colleges can promote the economic efficiency of colleges.
