Connotation development,quality improvement has become an important topic in the field of higher education.Implementing projects to achieve most education goals,polytechnic institutions make up a great portion among all universities.The improvement of their undergraduate education quality is of great theoretical and practical significance to improve China's higher education quality and make China stronger.What internal and external environment are the improvement of undergraduate quality facing,what are the problems,how to choose the improvement ideas,what are the answers to these questions constitute the basic framework of this study.The research mainly adopts the literature research method and comparative research method.In the process of improving the quality of undergraduate teaching in polytechnic colleges are faced with complex internal and external environment.The external environment mainly reflects the new industrial standards and requirements from new government strategy for polytechnic colleges undergraduate education.As for the internal dominant environment,the research is based on “Undergraduate Teaching Quality Report” from eight polytechnic collages in 2013.Comparisons between six aspects including education objects,teaching mode,teacher team,teaching recourse,practical training,and general education discovered the following problems: homogenization of education objects,lack of orientation to engineering in teaching mode,lack of teachers,high student to teacher ratio,lack of senior teacher,limited recourse for undergraduate teaching,low supporting recourse per person,low expense per person,low teaching funding per person,low practice funding per person,low number of lab equipment per person,low lab area per person,low number of book per person,formalization of practical training,outdated teaching mode,low attraction and creativity,and difficult teaching environment for general education in polytechnic collages.Based on the above analysis,the study found that the overall ability of engineering practice in Colleges and universities of science and engineering of engineering education is the construction of comprehensive university ",weakening the teaching idea of engineering education is backward,teachers are relatively weak,teaching students to practice a serious shortage of deep-seated and key problems.Research thinks,facing the new situation of introducing the new concept of engineering education;cultivation of colleges and universities the advantages of concise talents;build the "big project" curriculum system,highlighting the practical course and other measures to promote the reform of engineering education curriculum;agglomeration culture to improve the teachers ability of engineering practice of outstanding teachers management services in the policy oriented,focusing on engineering support,the ability of young team the core of teaching team;strengthening the practical teaching consciousness,increase in teaching practice,establishing practical teaching system to improve the practice teaching of undergraduate education is the only way which must be passed,improve the quality of undergraduate teaching in Universities of science and technology.
