With the advancement of the strategy of "building an innovation-oriented country ",science and technology talents,as the main force of building world-class universities,play a vital role in the development of science and technology in the universities and during the process of building an innovation-oriented country.Accordingly,it is full of significance to establish more scientific systems of evaluating the science and technology talents,so as to inspire their innovation potential and to optimize innovation environment,as well as to promote the development of science and technology talents.Through a mixed research method,this research explored the status quo of science and technology talents evaluation systems in universities and impacts on science and technology talents from the perspective of the science and technology talents in S university.In the quantitative research part,by sending questionnaires to the part of science and technology talents in S university to understand the present situation and ideal evaluation system of science and technology talents in universities,this research analyzed the system identification of evaluating the science and technology talents in the university.In the qualitative research part,semi-structured interviews with science and technology talents in S university were conducted.It turned out that the evaluation systems had some realistic values and some impacts on science and technology innovation and academic career development of science and technology talents.The results of case studies were based on the rich experience of science and technology talents evaluation systems in three world-class universities in the US and the UK.In combination with the results of the empirical research and case studies,this research provided some suggestions on the improvement of the science and technology talents evaluation systems in Chinese universities: first,the main body of the evaluation system should be dominated by peer experts,and supplemented by administrative staff and external third-party organizations,with the emphasis on the object's participation;second,as for the evaluation standards,more attention should be paid to talents' science and technology innovation abilities,thereby promoting the formation of collaborative innovation and research cooperation;third,a classification evaluation index system should be established to realize the diversification of the evaluation indicators,etc.
