Extracurricular tutoring is an activity for elementary and middle school students who participates in the cultural lessons privately outside the formal education of the school.Students,as participants,have the right to choose,should be conscious and willing to participate when participating in activities.If a student participates in a learning activity under the compulsory of others and loses the right to speak,freedom,and autonomy,it is difficult to become the subject of learning.Then,in the actual extracurricular tutoring activities,the participation of students is determined by others,or based on the students' autonomy.This is a problem that needs to be addressed squarely.Therefore,this study aims to investigate the autonomy of students in extracurricular tutoring,and to understand the status quo and existence of their autonomy through analysis of factors such as willingness,attitude,motivation,demand,choice,input,and reflection in the process of participation.The problem is to promote the independent development of students under the premise of guiding parents and students to rationally take extracurricular tutoring activities.Based on the research objectives,this study selected 600 junior high school students from Putuo District of Shanghai to conduct a questionnaire survey and conducted in-depth interviews with 50 junior high school students.Through the collation and analysis of the data,the research found that:(1)Others decide to participate more than the students' self-selection.Only 21.8% of the students actively ask for participation;junior high school students participate in more external motivation than internal motivation,and most of them aim at improving academic performance.(2)Junior high school students have better self-awareness and strong self-willingness,and the level of autonomy is in the middle and good range.(3)Junior high school students have limited autonomous space.In the participation in extracurricular tutoring activities,it will be subject to the will pressure from the parents,the control of the teachers,the norms of the society,etc.,and the real autonomy is small.(4)There is a contradiction between willing autonomy andbehavioral autonomy,and a game between his master and autonomy.Junior high school students have strong autonomy in their psychology,but they have certain dependence on others in their behavior.The ideal self has a certain conflict with the self in reality,and is in a "contradictory period."(5)Gender,grade,class ranking,satisfaction with grades,educational expectations,family economic level,and learning pressure all affect students' autonomy in extracurricular tutoring;autonomy level is positively correlated with tutoring effect.Based on the above findings,this study puts forward relevant suggestions from four aspects: education,family,school,and tutoring institutions:First,education guides students from their Lord to independence.Improve the autonomy of junior high school students,rationally understand their own learning needs;provide students with corresponding autonomy space,let students become the main body of education and teaching activities;stimulate students' voluntary behavior motives,learn to independently control and manage learning process,learning time,Learning strategies,etc.Second,parents respect the choice of whether the child is involved.Parents must have a correct view of education.In participating in extracurricular tutoring activities,they should base themselves on the students' willingness to learn and learn.Again,the school improved teaching and reduced tutoring needs.Teachers should guide students to learn and stimulate students' subject consciousness;meet the needs of students,and carry out differentiated teaching according to the characteristics of students' development;improve teaching level,improve teaching quality,improve teaching forms,and stimulate students' interest in learning.Finally,extracurricular tutoring should also focus on student autonomy.Pay attention to the development of students,understand the real learning needs of students,and gain competitive advantage by standardizing their own development.
