The geography curriculum objectives are important guidelines for geography curriculum development,implementation,and evaluation.Through the research on the evolution of the objectives of the geography curriculum,it is possible to explore the overall trend of the development of the national geography curriculum,better understand the formulation of the new education policy,rebuild the curriculum value and teaching concept from the perspective of development,and promote the curriculum reform.Since the beginning of the 21 st century,many countries in the world have been actively adjusting or updating the basic curriculum in response to the challenges of the new era.As an important member of the wave of curriculum reform in the world,Britain's geography curriculum has undergone three profound changes in a short period of more than ten years.In this process,the objectives of geography curriculum are constantly being reflected and adjusted.The discussion of its development and change will help us to respond to the new changes of the world education trend and has a very high practical value in promoting the reform of modern curriculum.This paper uses literature survey,historical induction,comparative analysis and other research methods to analyze the evolution of the geography curriculum objectives in England since the 21 st century.Firstly,starting from the background of change,this paper examines the challenges faced by the international educational environment in the 21 st century and the political,social,economic,cultural and educational backgrounds of educational changes in Britain and combs out the geography curriculum objectives since the 21 st century.This paper makes a comparative study on the three dimensions of knowledge objectives,skills objectives,attitudes and value objectives.It also analyses and evaluates the characteristics,effectiveness and problems of previous objectives,and then explores the trend of the evolution of geography curriculum objectives in contemporary Britain,so as to provide useful thinking and inspiration for the reform of geography education in China.This article is divided into seven parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background andresearch significance of this thesis,clarifies the current research status of the paper,and determines the main research contents and methods.The second part is the background research on the evolution of the British geography curriculum since the 21 st century,and analyzes the international and domestic situation.Understand the challenges of the 21 st century international geography education environment;sort out the political,economic and cultural backgrounds within England.The third part combs the three evolutions of the geography curriculum objectives since the21 st century,including the revision process and target content evolution of the 1999,2008,and2014 editions of the National Geography curriculum,and analyzes their similarities and differences.The fourth part briefly introduces the dimension division of the objectives of the British geography curriculum,and compares the curriculum objectives of different periods since the 21 st century around the three dimensions of knowledge objectives,skill objectives,attitudes and value objectives.The fifth part is the characteristics and evaluation analysis of the objectives of the previous geography courses since the 21 st century.It re-evaluates the characteristics,main effects and existing problems of the geography curriculum objectives.The sixth part is the development trend of the 21 st century English geography curriculum goal,pointing out the new trend in the evolution process: teachers are re-granted autonomy;geography curriculum presents knowledge transfer;highlights the connection between geography and society,environment;adopts no “level” Evaluation method.The seventh part is the thinking and enlightenment brought to the development of the geography curriculum in England.Based on the development of the geography curriculum objectives in China,the author puts forward some thoughts,and then points out the enlightenment of the development of the geography curriculum in England to the development of geography curriculum in China: multi-participation Course development process;enhance the flexibility of curriculum implementation;value the role of knowledge in the curriculum;focus on the geography useful for life;improve the evaluation of geography learning.The eighth part is the conclusion,deficiency and research prospect of this paper.
