General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the relationship between the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the ecological civilization,and has put forward a series of new thoughts and new strategies with Chinese characteristics for the development of ecological civilization.Western mountainous areas are rich in natural resources.But recently,local people are eager to obtain material benefits,which has resulted in a decrease in the vegetation coverage and forest resources as well as the continuous destruction to the ecological environment,but people have not yet realized the ecological crisis.Education is a social activity to cultivate people.Junior high school is a key period in developing students' thinking potential and guiding students to establish their own world outlook and values.Biology is the subject that has the closest connection with ecological value education in the junior high school curriculum system.Therefore,in order to thoroughly solve the above-mentioned ecological environment problems,we should start with the ecological value concepts,integrate ecological value education into biology teaching in the middle school in western mountainous villages and towns,and this is also an actively response to the practical measures of “developing a beautiful China”.Ziyuan County,Guilin City is a typical mountainous area in the western part of China.This research started from the one-year tutorial of the author in a local junior high school in the township.This research mainly consists of the following five parts:Firstly,through the usage of literature research method,the relevant research progress of the ecological value education in China and in foreign countries as well as the current situation of the education in the middle school in the western mountainous villages and towns are analyzed.Secondly,according to the group characteristics of junior high school students invillages and towns in western mountainous areas,160 students were randomly selected from Chetian ethnic junior high school in Chetianmiao township,Ziyuan County,Guilin City and other junior high schools in its surrounding townships by referring to the compilation of “Questionnaire on the Current Situation of Ecological Value Education Literacy of Middle School Students”.SPSS was used to analyze the factors which may affect the ecological values.Then the conclusion was drawn and was listed as follows:About half of the junior high school students in western mountainous areas have not yet established a scientific ecological value;As for the three dimension,namely,the knowledge of ecological values,the emotional attitude towards ecological values and participation in related activities,the level of participation in related activities is lower than the level of the knowledge of ecological values and the emotional attitude towards ecological values.Boys have a better knowledge of ecological value than girls do,but they are in advantage when in practical actions.The level of ecological values,emotions and attitudes of the Junior 3 students is higher than of the Junior 2 students,while Junior 2students is higher than that of Junior 1 students.Thirdly,the current situation of ecological values education in biology teaching in junior high schools in mountainous villages and towns in Western China is studied.Through the “Questionnaire on the Current Situation of Ecological Values Education Literacy of Biology Teachers in Middle Schools” and interviews,20 teachers in Chetianmiao township,Ziyuan County,Guilin City and other junior high schools in its surrounding townships were investigated.After analyzing the results from the questionnaires and interviews,it is concluded that there are few professional biology teachers in junior high schools in western mountainous villages and towns;The existing examination system restricts the development of ecological value education;The depth and the breadth of ecological values education are far from perfect;And the ecological value accomplishment of the teachers needs to be strengthened.Fourthly,according to the research results,the educational resources of ecological values in biology teaching materials and local natural resources are further dig out.Also concerning the actual situation in the western mountainous areas,the actual teaching and teaching cases on the classroom teaching,experimental teaching and practical teaching of the ecological value education in the biology teaching is explored.From the exploration,itis shown that it would be smooth for the setting up of the ecological value education in the junior high school biology teaching in the western mountainous areas,and the ecological value education in the junior high school biology teaching is practical and feasible.Finally,the following countermeasures are put forward for the ecological values education in the junior high schools in the western mountainous villages and towns: For education departments and schools,an ecological values teaching system should be established;For teachers,their educational attainment and ability of ecological values should be strengthened.And the unique resources in the western region should be utilized reasonably,and an education environment for the ecological value should be established and set,so as to create a joint force in the ecological value education.
