As the mainstay of higher education,research-oriented universities aim to cultivate and cultivate innovative high-level professionals,and their elite colleges take this as an important task.Under the guidance of the "top-notch plan" policy,elite colleges established by 20 research universities in China that select "top-notch plan" as undergraduates for special training are especially representative among elite colleges aiming at cultivating innovative talents.Whether elite colleges can cultivate innovative talents has become the focus of the society.However,the cultivation of innovative talents cannot be separated from the optimized academic environment.A good academic environment is the fertile soil for the growth of innovative talents and the key to promoting the improvement of innovative research and innovation ability of innovative talents.Therefore,to cultivate innovative talents,building a good academic environment is particularly critical and necessary.However,the status quo of the academic environment of elite colleges in China's research universities is unknown.Therefore,it is urgent to build a complete and scientific evaluation index system as a measuring tool to help elite colleges and universities identify their own advantages and disadvantages for better development.To this end,this paper probes into the evaluation index system of academic environment in elite colleges of research universities in China,in order to make contributions to its improvement.Based on the hierarchical theory of enterprise culture,this study constructed the evaluation index system of academic environment of elite colleges of research universities in China from three dimensions——material environment,institutional environment and spiritual environment through literature research.After that,through the comprehensive application of Delphi method and AHP,this paper revises and improves the feasibility and comprehensiveness of the academic environment evaluation index system of elite colleges of research universities in China,and gives weight to the indicators at all levels within the system.Furthermore,based on the proposed evaluation index system,this paper designs a student questionnaire to investigate students from 13 elite colleges.Then,this paper carries on the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to each university elite college academic environment and each layer index through the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.Through data analysis,it finds that the academic environment of elite colleges of research universities in China is faced with major problems:(1)the implementation of the tutorial system is not in place;(2)the academic incentive system is not sound;(3)the academic evaluation system needs to be further improved;(4)curriculum setting needs to be further optimized;(5)the teaching method is relatively backward.Finally,based on the above analysis,countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to improve the academic environment of elite colleges of research universities in China:(1)strengthen the construction of effective teaching staff and further implement the tutorial system;(2)improve self-actualization motivation;(3)improve the academic evaluation system;(4)develop a sound curriculum system;(5)further improve classroom teaching methods.
