With the booming development of sports and the introduction of the Course Standard Of Physical Education and Health,students are showing an increasing demand for PE class,while the outdated teaching contents and methods has brought about some undesirable impacts on students' learning of PE.Therefore,to further reform the PE education and improve college students' physical quality should be the focus of PE reform in colleges and universities.The Basic Education Curriculum Reform Outline also emphasizes the importance of the PE teaching reform.Since its advent in universities in the mid 1990 s,aerobics has emerged as a common sports program in universities.After years of efforts in improving the content of the aerobics teaching,the entire teaching system has seen great improvements.However,there still exist problems that are inconsistent with the social development and the trend of our times and need further discussions.Currently,a number of colleges in Dongguan have set up the aerobics classes,a new-comer in Dongguan's colleges,and obtained less emphasis than that on basketballs,weigh-lifting and badminton,since Dongguan has long been famous for its basketball and weigh-lifting programs.Research methods including the literature material law,questionnaire survey,teaching experiment,and mathematical statistics were adopted in this paper,and the relevant research on the optimization of aerobics teaching in Dongguan's colleges was conducted.The conclusions are as following.Firstly,today the overall setting of aerobics teaching in Dongguan's universities is unsatisfactory —textbooks in different colleges vary,the teaching condition fails to meet the demand and the goals of teaching are not consistent with students' cognitive goals of learning.Such circumstance,therefore,the public aerobics class teaching in Dongguan's universities is not in line with the current teaching requirements.Secondly,the class hour of aerobics fails to meet the standard,with a relatively large gap.In terms of the syllabus,theoretical teaching tends to be neglected with the focus on technique-oriented practices.A theoretical teaching plan is not included in most of Dongguans' universities.Thirdly,universities in Dongguan do not attach adequate importance to teaching aids.Among the universities surveyed,most of them do not lay down a plan for teaching aids,the lack of which will bring negative effects on students' learning of general knowledge of sports.Fourthly,there exists a discrepancy between students' and teachers' understanding on the teaching content.Students prefer something novel and practical,while teachers tend to teach in an aerobics-based and regular way.Thus,teaching content's failure to meet students' demand and interests directly affects their passion and efficiency in learning aerobics.
