Conjunctional Degree Of Occupational Position And School Majors In Higher Vocational Colleges

With the popularization of higher education,there are more graduates from higher vocational colleges in recent years,and their employment has attracted broad attention,which results in imbalance between supply and demand for employment and labor market,and inconformity of employment and specialty.In essence,what is difficult for graduates from higher vocational colleges is not to find a job,but to find a satisfying job.Therefore,their employment has been the core issue,and is also the primary problem troubling the development of higher vocational colleges.In addition,it affects career development of graduates in the future whether they can find jobs consistent with their specialties,and is also related to specialties selection and training orientation of a higher vocational college.Based on these facts,a questionnaire survey method was adopted in this paper to investigate the conformity of employment and specialty for graduates from several specialties of 12 higher vocational colleges in the past three years in different regions of Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province.The questionnaire involved in initial employment rate of graduates from higher vocational colleges,secondary employment rate and reasons for the incompatibility of employment and specialty,so as to reflect the status quo and trend of conformity of employment and specialty for graduates from higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province.The factors were further derived that affected incompatibility of employment and specialty for graduates from higher vocational colleges after in-depth interviews with some graduates,and they can be explored from macro and micro perspectives.According to the study:First,there is good compatibility of employment and specialty for graduates fromhigher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province as a whole,but significant group differences exist.Different compatibilities are caused for different graduate groups by different specialties,regions,and different personal factors.Second,if there is incompatibility of employment and specialty for graduates from higher vocational colleges,it,on the one hand,will positively promote the graduates,and on the other hand,will hinder their further development.Third,as for graduates from higher vocational colleges,there are factors affecting whether they can find job in conformity with specialties during job hunting,namely,social factors,department factors,individual factors of students and employers.Fourth,considering the status quo of low compatibility of employment and specialty for graduates from higher vocational colleges,the government should actively guide to change concepts socially,and attach great importance to and vigorously develop higher vocational education so as to cultivate more high-quality skilled talents;moreover,higher vocational colleges should reform talents cultivation models,and strengthen employment guidance and education for graduates who,finally,should improve themselves,position employment,and enhance life values.
