Innovation is an everlasting topic that lasts for a long time and is also the motive force for the continuous progress and development of human society.Innovation has become the core element of competition for a country,an enterprise and even an individual in the current era.Nowadays,with the intensification of international competition,under the background of"Industrial 4.0" in Germany and "Return of Manufacturing Industry" in European and American countries,top-level design strategies such as "Made in China 2025" and"Innovation Driven" challenge the reserve of high-end talents in scientific and technological innovation.With the rise of the maker movement in China in 2015,the popularity of innovation and entrepreneurship has also affected the educational circles.Maker education has become the main way to cultivate new innovative talents.Both design thinking and maker education pay attention to the cultivation of human creativity.Currently maker education has advantages in cultivating students' practical ability,and design thinking plays an important role in promoting students' creative self-confidence,innovative inspiration and design literacy.It is a good measure to cultivate students'all-round development to apply design thinking to maker education.The theme of this study is to explore the application of design thinking to the maker education.On the basis of clarifying the core relationship between the maker education and the design thinking theory,the researcher selected Shenzhen as the field investigation base,and selected Chaihuo maker education,Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab,Shenzhen University Pioneer Park and Shenzhen No.2 Senior Middle School as case studies.The research used interview and participatory observation in qualitative research to obtain first-hand research data,and the current situation of the development of creative education is obtained.Using EDIPT design thinking theory of Stanford Design Research Institute to analyze and find the answer of the cognitive level and application of the design thinking theory in the above four cases.In conclusion,the design thinking theory plays an important role in promoting the maker education as follows:(1)Integrating design thinking into maker education will change the current inherent thinking mode of innovation,provide immersive experience,and build participants'creative self-confidence.(2)Design thinking is the summary of design practice in the traditional sense,the application and promotion of visual thinking,and contributes to the thinking about social value in the problem orientation.(3)The methodological framework of design thinking will become a common language,providing a more multiple way of cooperation and a more rational and comprehensive thinking process in the maker education Project.(4)Design thinking encourages students to learn knowledge in real-life projects,improves the speed of building prototypes and product iterations.At the end of the dissertation,the advantages and disadvantages of maker education are summarized,and constructive suggestions on how to apply design thinking into the maker education systematically and scientifically are given.
