With the development of informatization and globalization,complex social problems can no longer be solved through the accumulation of knowledge in a single discipline.What we really need is to effectively integrate different knowledge areas.Implementing interdisciplinary postgraduate education and cultivating researchers with interdisciplinary knowledge background and research methods,interdisciplinary thinking and cooperation ability have become the demands of the times.The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the current status of interdisciplinary postgraduate training in China,explore the specific problems existing in various aspects of interdisciplinary postgraduate training and put forward some reasonable suggestions.Firstly,the historical development of interdisciplinary research and education,interdisciplinary postgraduate training mode,current status and problems are sorted out,which lays a theoretical foundation for this study.Secondly,based on the research question and research purpose,S University and Z University are selected as the case universities.Through semi-structured interviews with 24 university managers,postgraduate tutors and graduate students(from 10 different colleges),the views of different subjects on this research question are understood.Finally,by drawing on the advanced experience of foreign universities and the suggestions of interviewees,this paper puts forward some reasonable suggestions for the interdisciplinary postgraduate training in China.The researcher found that the two universities have raised the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents to the height of the school's development strategy,and constantly improve relevant policies and supporting facilities,such as establishing interdisciplinary research projects,interdisciplinary teams,as well as interdisciplinary doctoral programs,and implementing interdisciplinary doctoral training programs.However,there are still a series of problems existing.On institutional construction,interdisciplinary recruitment and selection is demand-oriented,and the assessment method and content lack attention to interdisciplinary thinking and ability;the relevant policies of interdisciplinary postgraduate training need to be improved.On resource allocation,the interdisciplinary tutorial group system has not been established yet,and the academic resources need to be further integrated.On training process,the interdisciplinary curriculum system lacks well planning,curriculum lacks stable teaching teams,students lack interdisciplinary cooperative learning platform,and curriculum assessment lacks attention to interdisciplinary thinking and ability;besides,students lack systematic interdisciplinary training and communication activities;what's more,students' Interdisciplinary dissertation lacks effective guidance,and the evaluation mechanism of interdisciplinary dissertation has not yet been established.Combining with the advanced experience of foreign universities and the reasonable suggestions of interviewees,this study holds that on institutional construction,first of all,the college should not only take demand as the orientation,but also focus on cultivating students,and the assessment method and content should pay attention to students' interdisciplinary thinking and ability;besides,trying to set up interdisciplinary degree and major as well as academic degree evaluation committee.On resource allocation,facilitating the diversification of the teachers'disciplinary backgrounds,improving the tutors' interdisciplinary ability,and establishing interdisciplinary tutorial groups for the students;establishing public research platform to further integrate academic resources.On training process,setting up interdisciplinary courses based on needs,encouraging students to choose courses from different disciplines,establishing interdisciplinary teaching groups,and improving the evaluation system of interdisciplinary course learning outcomes;attaching great importance to interdisciplinary scientific research training and improving the evaluation mechanism of interdisciplinary research projects;formulating evaluation criteria for interdisciplinary dissertations and setting up interdisciplinary evaluation groups.
