In recent years,study travel activities have increasingly received attention in China.Study travel tutors are playing an important part in achieving the educational goal of study travel.The competency model is widely used in various fields,and this paper aims at building the competency model of the study travel tutor.First of all,the causes,process and results of the success and failure events of research tutors in their work were investigated based on the behavioral event interview method,and 42 events in total were collected.The total time of the interview was 830.05 minutes,converting into 150,000 words in this paper..Through the comparison between the excellent group and the ordinary group,the text content was analyzed and encoded to extract the competency index,and the competence model of the study travel tutor has been initially constructed.Building on this,the Delphi method and questionnaire survey method were used to further improve and verify the indicators;According to the existing research,the expert consultation questionnaire was developed.After consultation and feedback,the primary indicators were modified accordingly.Two items,i.e.lively personality and sense of achievement motivation,were deleted,and a new item,i.e.the inquiry force that constantly pursues the research validity,was added.Finally,the competency model and the weight of the first-level indicators of the study travel tutor were established.Ultimately,a questionnaire was compiled on the basis of the existing models to verify the reliability and validity of the indicators.The competency model of the study travel tutor finally determined in this study includes four first-level indicators of professional skills,professional knowledge,professional attitude,and professional personality,as well as 47 secondary indicators including the abilities of organization,communication,explanation,guidance learning,dealing with emergencies,continuous learning,team cooperation;knowledge and awareness of safety,tour guide,medicine,history,humanity,psychology,and life;qualification certificates of teacher,tour guide,psychology consultant;loyal attitude to their own work,good at summing up experience,actively encouraging students to participate in collective activities,persistence,sticking to principles,love for students,love for research work;be conscientious and responsible,preparing in advance,paying attention to the maintenance of team image,observing carefully;be attentive to students,practicing emergency plan in advance,having an attitude of continuous learning,the image of professional study travel tutor;a clear understanding of the work,hard-working;respect for students,empathy,tolerance,patience,affinity,calmness,physical and mental health,leniency and strictness towards students,strict self-discipline,optimism,continuous improvement of personal ability,strong pressure resistance,and constant pursuit of research validity.The study travel tutor competency model can provide an effective reference for the selection and training of study travel tutors and the formulation of relevant competency standards.
