As a unique art form developed during recent times,cartoon is becoming increasingly popular among middle school students.This art form can trace its origin to an extension of painting art.When the strong emotion of the creator cannot be fully and extensively conveyed by traditional painting art,he or she resorts to this type of painting which uses exaggeration,criticism,humor and metaphor as outlets of emotion,unstoppably becomes popular.In 2004,comic teaching was incorporated into high school art curriculum in Guangxi,which is an extremely attractive curriculum resource for middle school students,who are faced with heavy academic pressure,longing for a relaxing,humorous and pleasant medium to relax as well as reduce psychological pressure.The development of cartoon teaching can not only serve as one of the most effective means of promoting campus culture construction,also develop the students'interests,enrich the students' after-school life,enable the students' creative thinking,improve students' comprehensive quality,cultivate students to form right outlooks on the world,life and values,bearing vital significance to the development of cartoon education.Although comic teaching has been introduced into the teaching of high school art courses,comic-related knowledge usually appears in textbooks as a supporting role.Worse still,there is no supporting teaching and training measures.Due to the fact that some middle school art teachers do not have long-term professional training of cartoon knowledge and lack of cartoon teaching experience without systematic arrangement of cartoon course contents,though the students show great interest in learning and eager to learn,the teachers are unable to give better guidance.Taking the cartoon teaching in Beihai no.7 middle school as an example,the author analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the cartoon course practice in high school based on the methods of literature review,questionnaire and analysis of teaching cases,so as to propose some effective methods to optimize the cartoon teaching combining with the contents of the cartoon course.The thesis consists of six parts.The first part is about the definition of cartoon and its artistic characteristics.The second part puts forward the significance of cartoon teaching in cultivating students' creative practice quality,writing expression ability,students' modeling ability and forming correct values.In the third part,the current situation of cartoon teaching in Beihai No.7 middle school is investigated.In the process of investigation,questionnaires are carried out among different student groups and teachers.The data corrected is accurate and targeted.According to the existing problems,the fourth part discusses some effective methods of cartoon teaching,such as incorporating the elements of life into the theme design,quietly permeating the educational function into cartoon teaching,taking advantage of proverbs to help cartoons teaching,blending learning comic techniques with creativity,applying the Situational Teaching to classroom teaching,as well as strengthening teacher's comic teaching ability of appreciation as well as creativity.In the fifth part,based on the teaching practice of the author,the optimization practice of cartoon teaching is explored.The sixth part summarizes the reflection of implementing cartoon teaching in Beihai No.7 middle school and gives prospects of it.
