With the advancement of science and technology and the development of culture,symbols,images,and videos have appeared in all aspects of people's lives."Images" can be said to be another language for people to communicate.Because art itself is a visual art,"images" have an important status in arts.Therefore,in the teaching of arts,it is necessary to train students' ability to "read pictures" of art works.This article is based on the cultivation of picture reading ability of high school students from the perspective of Chinese painting appreciation.It starts from the teaching of high school art appreciation and combines traditional Chinese painting analysis and picture reading methods.Through the theoretical explanation of picture reading ability cultivation of high school students,it guides teaching practice.The aim is to improve students' visual perception,aesthetic appreciation and cultural understanding so that students can form a correct aesthetic cultural awareness.This article takes two middle schools on Baota District of Yanan City as the research object and focuses on the ability to read pictures to study the cultivation of high school students' ability to read pictures in Chinese painting.This article consists of the following three parts.The first part is a survey and questions on the current situation of picture reading ability of high school students.Through the analysis of the survey data,it was found that students did not pay enough attention to the art class;teachers' comprehensive literacy needs to be strengthened;the school's teaching management still needs to be improved.The second part elaborates on the importance of Chinese painting appreciation forhigh school students to develop their ability to read pictures.It is analyzed that the cultivation of high school students 'ability to read pictures in traditional Chinese paintings plays an important role in strengthening students' understanding of traditional Chinese paintings,promoting the implementation of effective teaching and the construction of humanities in schools.The third part focuses on the cultivation strategy of high school students' ability to read pictures.From the perspectives of high school students on the visual perception,visual recognition,and visual interpretation of classic Chinese painting works,and in the appreciation of Chinese painting works,combined with the situational method,interactive method,comparative method,teaching method,subject fusion and other teaching methods The specific method of reading pictures for high school students gradually develops students 'ability to read pictures,so as to enhance students' observation ability,imagination and appreciation of beauty.The fourth part is the teaching case of Chinese painting appreciation for the cultivation of high school students' ability to read pictures.Discussed from three aspects:academic condition analysis,teaching plan and teaching reflection.It enables students to have a deep understanding of traditional Chinese paintings using the method of reading pictures,and in a subtle way,enhance students' awareness of the protection and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture.
