The large-unit teaching is a teaching method that implements and continuously improves the large unit teaching design.Under the guidance of systematic thinking,from the perspective of cultivating students' core literacy in physics,it divides the teaching content into large-units according to the teaching plan and curriculum arrangement,and designs the overall teaching of the large unit after the division is completed.The implementation of the large-unit teaching can help students understand the knowledge thoroughly and clear the connection between them.It can help students solve problems with a holistic perspective.The content of physics teaching in the first semester of Grade Nine plays a very important position.After studying the curriculum standards,analyzing the textbooks and students' academic situation thoroughly,we choose the Chapters 12 to 18 of textbook which is pressed by the Shanghai Science and Technology Press.According to advanced learning theory,we divided the teaching content into three large-units: thermal,electrical and electromagnetic,then clarified the teaching goals of the large-unit,and conducted a large-unit teaching design for the teaching content.After researching the theory of the large-unit teaching,we carried out the large-unit teaching in Class *,Grade 9 of a Junior middle school in Haikou.After the teaching,mind maps,academic achievements,and interviews were used as evaluation methods to analyze the effects of the large-unit teaching.The results show that the large-unit teaching can enhance students' interest in physics,improve students' systematic thinking ability,cultivate students' core literacy in physics,and form correct values;at the same time,it can help students understand the knowledge thoroughly,think about the problem as a whole,clarify the connections between knowledge,and improve the ability to solve problems.
