Curriculum is one of the most meaningful and core areas of the school,and the appropriateness of curriculum in normal schools is directly related to the quality of teachers training.Therefore,curriculum has always been taken as the point of break through in normal education reforms.Secondary normal education in Sichuan Province,which originated in modern times,and can be traced back to Jingwei School,which was founded in Luzhou in southern Sichuan in 1900,has a history of 120 years.For a long time after the founding of New China,curriculum of Sichuan secondary normal schools tended to be unified with that of national normal schools,but some times and regional characteristics were reflected in the process of its development,and it had undergone twists and turns,but on the whole,continued to develop and improve.The research,reflection and experiences summary of the course of curriculum in secondary normal schools in this period have certain enlightening significance to today's curriculum reform of teacher education.In this paper,curriculum of five secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province are taken as the research object,based on the historical documents related to curriculum of secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province,including teaching plans,syllabus,schools history,normal teaching materials,and educational administration archives of secondary normal schools as well as the important educational documents issued by the state and Sichuan Province,studying the history of curriculum of secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province from three aspects: curriculum objectives,curriculum structures and curriculum contents.The main body is divided into five parts.In the first part,the development process of secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province is divided into four stages according to the emergence of landmark events in the development of secondary normal schools: transformation and construction stage(1949-1965),stagnation and retrogression stage(1966-1976),development and prosperity stage(1977-1997),diversion and decline stage(1998-2010),giving a brief introduction to the development of secondary normal schools in each stage.In the second part,the evolution of curriculum objectives of secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province is discussed,summarizing the characteristics of which from the two dimensions of form orientation and value orientation on the basis of combing the historical evolution of curriculum objectives.In the third part,the evolution of curriculum structures of secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province is studied,finding that it had experienced three obvious stages of development and changes: the singleness and fickle of the curriculum structure in the 17 years before “the Cultural Revolution”,the stagnation and destruction of the curriculum structure during “the Cultural Revolution”,and the stability and balance of the curriculum structure after the reform and opening up.The fourth part focuses on the combing of the evolution of the curriculum contents of Sichuan secondary normal schools,and curriculum contents of Sichuan secondary normal schools were highly summarized in the syllabus of each period,which were also reflected in normal teaching materials.Therefore,syllabus of secondary normal schools in each period are analyzed in this part,and the development process of secondary normal schools teaching materials is combed.In the fifth part,experiences are summarized,reflecting on the history,based on the understanding of the evolution process and characteristics of curriculum of secondary normal schools in Sichuan Province.
