STEM education,incorporating the concept of interdisciplinary knowledge learning,is conducive to the cultivation of students' comprehensive thinking.It plays a prominent role in the cultivation of talents.The STEM education has been widely concerned by various countries and has brought new thoughts and inspirations to the educational reform in China.The biology curriculum standards of senior high schools(2017 edition)systematically clarifies the importance of the four core qualities of biology in teaching and research,and it also expounds that the cultivation of students' core qualities of biology is not only the requirement of biology courses,but also the teaching objective of biology teaching.This paper integrates STEM education concept with biology teaching in senior high schools,and explores the influence of STEM education on cultivating students' scientific inquiry ability,providing the practical reference for educational scholars and front-line teachers on STEM education research.Through the method of literature research,this study has carried out theoretical research on STEM education and scientific inquiry,and combed the relationship between STEM education,scientific inquiry and biology teaching;The interview method was used to understand the implementation of STEM education in the daily biology teaching in the school;Questionnaire survey was used to understand students' scientific inquiry ability level,and two experimental classes were determined.With the method of case study,appropriate teaching cases were selected for teaching design and teaching practice.This study takes the teaching design of inquiry teaching on the history of science in the textbooks of "the structure of the bio-film,the flow of the bio-film Mosaic model" and innovative teaching of students in the experiment of "exploring the mystery of green leaves-extraction and separation of pigment from green leaves" as an example.After the teaching practice,using the self-control experiment method and questionnaire survey method,collect the data of students' scientific inquiry ability,analyze the changes of the level of scientific inquiry ability of the two experimental classes before and after the experiment,and then judge whether the teaching practice based on STEM education concept can improve students' scientific inquiry ability.The results show that.For one thing,biology teaching with STEM education concept can arouse students' interest in scientific inquiry;For another thing,biology teaching with STEM education concept can improve students' ability of scientific inquiry.Finally,the author reflects on this teaching research,finds out the existing problems of STME education,and puts forward suggestions.
