With the development of curriculum reform in China,the cultivation of students' core quality has been paid more and more attention.High school biology curriculum standards attach great importance to the cultivation of students' scientific literacy.STEM stands for science,technology,engineering,and mathematics.It emphasizes the integration and interconnection of STEM disciplines.STEM education stimulates learners' interest in learning in the form of problem-solving and fosters their ability to innovate.It focuses on capacity development and practical application.This research first designs the questionnaire to the high school biology experiment teaching present situation and the high school biology teacher to the STEM education present situation to carry on the investigation analysis.Combining the characteristics of Heyuan,four teaching cases are selected.Based on the experimental contents of the teaching materials and the cultural characteristics of Hakka people,the teaching cases of STEM education concept are designed.The experimental class was taught with the combination of STEM courses and the control class was taught with the traditional teaching method.By analyzing the data of the post-test of the students' scientific inquiry ability and the results of the PTA,it is found that the third types of post-test of the students' scientific inquiry ability's and the total score's P are less than 0.05.Three types of questions(experimental thinking,expected experimental results and conclusions)mainly investigate the students' achievement of teaching objectives in science,mathematics and engineering,the experimental class students' score higher than that of the control class,and the difference is significant.The third category for the experimental class is better than the control class.And the comparison of the median and the quartile distance found that the experimental class is better than the control class.After the teaching practice,the scientific inquiry ability of the experimental class is better than that of the control class.The result of independent sample T test of PTA for scientific inquiry ability is less than 0.05,and the total scores of the two classes are significantly different.And the comparison of the median and the quartile distance found that the experimental class is better than the control class.The results of seven dimensions of PTAwere further analyzed.The P value of the ability of conjecture and hypothesis,the ability of making experiment plan,the ability of operation and observation,and the ability of explanation and conclusion were all less than 0.05,and the two classes have significant difference in the ability of these four dimensions.Therefore,experimental teaching activities based on STEM ideas can promote students' transfer and application of subject knowledge and promote students' mastery of experimental knowledge and improve students' experimental design ability and analytical ability.It also can improve the comprehensive quality of students and practical ability.Of course,it also improves students' autonomous learning ability and learning enthusiasm,and promotes students' STEM literacy.The preliminary can judge STEM education and improve the scientific inquiry ability of students.The research result of this paper is to construct the high school biology teaching design mode based on the STEM education idea,and design the teaching flow.It can provide a reference to construct an experimental teaching model of biology in high school integrated with STEM education.In the end,the author puts forward some suggestions on how to integrate STEM ideas into the inquiry experimental teaching of biology in senior high schools,including improving the hardware configuration of teaching environment,training STEM teachers,and leading by relevant government departments,the school participates actively,the consummation society linkage mechanism and so on.
