Teachers' development plays the most important role in the country's development.Teachers' quality has a great influence on the development of education.To promote the New Curriculum reform effectively and cater to quality education,teachers are supposed to be qualified and professional.Therefore,teachers need to promote their professional development.In recent years,with the development of high school education,a great number of graduates have chosen to be high school English teachers and the ratio young teachers take up is increasing.Young teachers' professional development has an effect on the development of teaching quality in high schools and the development of education of the country.Therefore,it is of great necessity to concentrate on young teachers' professional development in high schools.Based on the professional development of young English teachers in Shangrao,Jiangxi Province,and combined with what researchers from home and abroad have found out about young teachers' professional development,this thesis analyzes the advantages and disadvantages in young English teachers' professional development and provides some suggestions on how to promote the professional development of young English teachers who teach in high schools.The thesis consists of six parts.The first part is an introduction,illustrating research background,research purposes and research significance.The research background is expounded from three aspects,including the new curriculum reform,the change of teacher structure and the need of individual professional development.And the research significance is expounded from two aspects,including theory and practice.Part two is literature review,illustrating what teachers' professional development and young teachers' professional development are.And it tells that teachers' development includes teachers' professional attitude,professional knowledge and professional skills.And it introduces the stages of teachers' professional development,including novice teachers,competent teachers,skilled teachers and expert teachers.In addition,itanalyzes what researchers have known about young teachers' professional development.Part three is theoretical framework,including the theories of life-long education,constructivism and learning motivation,emphasizing young teachers need to strengthen professional development.Part four analyzes the research problems,research subjects,research methods and research process.The fifth part analyzes the research results.It tells young English teachers' basic information,professional attitude,professional knowledge,professional skills and their professional development.And it introduces three advantages and three problems in the process of young teachers' development.And it also introduces some suggestions on how to promote young teachers' professional development.The last part is conclusion.It makes a conclusion of what have been found out in the professional development of young English teachers and deficiency of the thesis.
