As always,China and Mauritius have close contacts and deep friendship.There are many Chinese learning needs in Mauritius.Since 2004,Chinese has officially become one of the six elective courses in the Oriental language in primary schools.I have the honor to become a Chinese volunteer teacher in Notre Dame De Lourdes Church Primary School in Mauritius,and began teaching Chinese for ten months in January 2019.In practical teaching,the author finds that most of the students in this school have low Chinese level,low mastery of new words,and a single vocabulary teaching method,which is not conducive to the promotion of Chinese vocabulary teaching in this school.Therefore,the author hopes to collect and analyze the four cases of Chinese vocabulary teaching in the school by investigating and analyzing the specific situation of the teachers and students' word teaching and vocabulary learning,and combining with the theory of children's second language acquisition and cognitive psychological development,to explore the optimization strategies of Chinese vocabulary teaching in school in Mauritius.The first part of the paper discusses the background,origin,significance,research methods and theories of this topic,and the current situation of Chinese vocabulary teaching in China.It is found that there are few studies on Chinese teaching in Mauritius,and there is no research specifically on Chinese vocabulary teaching in primary school students in Mauritius.The second part of the paper investigates and analyzes the general situation of the school,the configuration of teaching tools,the quantity of new words used in the teaching materials,and finds that the number of students in the school is large,the teaching equipment is not complete,and the vocabulary in the teaching materials is large.The third part of the thesis from teachers,students and interviews three aspects of investigation and analysis.This paper investigates the way of vocabulary teaching of three teachers in the school and the learners' achievement,motivation and learning characteristics.The author also carries on the interview and the teaching observation to the two local teachers.The fourth part of the paper analyzes four successful and unsuccessful Chinese vocabulary teaching cases in Notre Dame De Lourdes R.C.A School,Among them,cases one and two are the successful cases that the author has personally practiced,which are suitable for Chinese volunteer teachers who can not speak French.Cases three and four come from the classroom records of two local Chinese teachers.The fifth part of the thesis puts forward some suggestions and relevant teaching strategies according to the previous analysis.First,the school optimizes teaching equipment and teaching materials,and volunteer teachers can bring their own portable equipment.Second,local teachers should strengthen the cultivation of professional knowledge such as vocabulary teaching theory and methods,and volunteer teachers should focus on the cultivation of Chinese volunteers' language ability and vocabulary teaching ability in pre-job training.Third,in vocabulary teaching,teachers reduce English interpretation,take more intuitive ways to attract interest,and use the combination of children's songs and games to attract students' attention;for senior students,teachers should make rational use of morpheme teaching method to teach vocabulary,pay attention to the pronunciation and usage of new words,and emphasize the importance of example sentences.Fourth,Chinese teachers should establish a suitable system of rewards and punishments.Hope that the future of primary school students in Mauritius classroom Chinese vocabulary teaching,play a certain role in examples and inspiration.
