With the improvement of living standards,happiness has become the goal pursued by people.The relationship between the factors affecting happiness and the form of employment has become one of the hot topics of discussion.The number of workers engaged in informal employment in China is huge.Informal employment has also become an important part of the national economy and the labour market,playing an important role in production,job creation and income generation.The report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stated that employment is the biggest livelihood issue.It is necessary to promote the development of higher quality employment,build harmonious labor relations,and strengthen the construction of a social security system.To improve the well-being of works is an important issue to improve people's livelihood,and informal employment is crucial to the well-being of workers.However,China's huge informal employment groups have loose labor relations,unstable employment,lack of social security,and low quality of employment,which limits the improvement of the happiness of all workers.Therefore,by studying the impact of informal employment on the subjective well-being of workers,we find the specific characteristics of informal employment in the happiness of workers,improve the level of happiness of workers,improve the employment quality of workers,and promote the formation of harmonious labor relations.It is of great significance to improve people's livelihood.This article first expounds the research background and significance of the impact of informal employment on workers' well-being,and reviews and combs relevant literature at home and abroad.Based on the existing literature research,the entry point of this article is selected.Secondly,the definitions of the concepts related to this article are given,explaining the theoretical basis related to the study of this article,namely the labor market segmentation theory,poverty employment theory,happiness paradox,and human capital theory.Third,this article uses the 2016 China Labor-force Dynamics Survey(CLDS)survey data,and uses statistical analysis and econometric model methods to establish an ordered Probit model to empirically study the impact of informal employment on workers' happiness.Based on the perspectives of informal employment and informal self-employment,this paper studies the difference in the impact of informal employment on workers 'happiness,and analyzes informal employment on workers' happiness from three perspectives: gender,household registration,and years of education Impact difference.In order to test whether the impact of informal employment on workers' well-being is robust,the Propensity Score Matching(PSM)method is used to re-estimate the full sample,gender,household registration,and years of education,and conduct a robustness test.Finally,on the basis of the above analysis,the research conclusions are drawn and corresponding policy recommendations are proposed.The study found that,first,engaging in informal employment significantly reduced the subjective well-being of workers.Second,informal employment in informal employment and informal self-employment can significantly reduce the subjective well-being of workers,but informal employment has a greater impact on workers' well-being.Third,the effect of informal employment on female workers' subjective well-being is higher than that of male workers.Fourth,the effect of informal employment on the subjective well-being of urban registered workers is higher than that of rural household workers.Fifth,engaging in informal employment has a greater effect on subjective well-being of workers with higher years of education.In order to improve the level of happiness of workers,improve the quality of employment of workers,and build a harmonious labor relationship,based on the above research conclusions,this paper proposes the following recommendations.First,urge the employer to sign labor contracts with the laborers,and increase the enforcement of the labor contract signed between the employer and the laborer.Second,improve the level of social security for informal workers.The government should strengthen supervision and improve the level of social security for informal workers.Third,reduce gender discrimination in the labor market,and formulate special laws and regulations against employment gender discrimination to reduce gender discrimination in the labor market.Fourth,establish a unified household registration system in urban and rural areas and eliminate the urban-rural division system in the labor market.Fifth,improve the education level of workers,increase the popularization of high school education and expand the enrollment scale of higher education.
