Since the reform and opening up,China's economy has maintained a high growth momentum. However, due to the long-term reliance on investment and export led to the lack of domestic consumption demand and other economic structural problems are increasingly prominent.Under the background of "new normal",China's economic growth pattern will shift from "high-speed growth" to "high-quality growth",and rational adjustment of economic structure has become the main focus of China's reform. Therefore,it is imperative to carry out comprehensive economic structural reform centering on consumption, effectively stimulate domestic consumption, promote the upgrading of consumption structure, expand domestic demand and achieve sustainable economic development. There are many factors influencing the consumption structure.Although income is the most important factor, from a large number of research results and the development experience of various countries, the impact of population factors on the consumption structure cannot be ignored.Based on the basic theory of population economics, this paper clarifies the internal correlation between population structure factors and consumption structure, and then analyzes the specific impact of population micro-attribute on consumption structure from two aspects of natural and social attributes of population.Empirical analysis based on 2010 ~ 2016 Chinese families track(CFPS)micro data, nature mainly selected population age structure, population, social attribute education mainly selected population structure, the use of fixed effects models and panel quantile regression confirm population age, education structure on the impact of different types of consumption and its structure of the family. The study found that, first of all,the increase in children population ratio is not conducive to the upgrading of the consumption structure.Because children's rising population than will promote in the family represented by food and expenditure dressed the necessity of the increase of the proportion of consumption, and more significantly inhibited the cultural and educational entertainment spending and domestic developmental consumption, such as health care expenditure proportion, although there is no influence for enjoy consumption, but will enhance family equipment expenditure proportion and reduce the proportion of spendingon other goods,so,our country population age characteristics to a certain extent, promote the consumption structure upgrade;Secondly, the elderly population ratio has a significant impact on the consumption structure, and the elderly population ratio has an inhibitory effect on the upgrading of household consumption structure. As the proportion of elderly population mainly promotes the proportion of household food expenditure and medical care expenditure, but inhibits most other consumption expenditure, the trend of accelerating aging of China's population will not facilitate the upgrading of consumption structure.Secondly, the population education structure will mainly increase the proportion of development-type and enjoyment-type consumption and reduce the proportion of subsistence consumption. Therefore, the improvement of family education level will promote the upgrading of consumption structure. Finally, there are some differences in the influence of the ratio of children to population on the consumption structure of divided urban and rural households.Although the elderly population ratio and population education structure have the same influence on the consumption structure of divided urban and rural households, there are differences in the influence degree. At the same time, there are also differences in the influence of population factors on different consumption classes.
