Research On The Impact Of Population Structure Change On Household Consumption

Since the reform and opening up,investment and exports have played a maj or role in economic construction.With the occurrence of a series of events such as the financial crisis and the Sino-US trade war in recent years,China has been forced to give full play to the role of consumption in promoting stable economic growth.Therefore,the population as the main consumer has become the key to China's economic transformation.In fact,different demographics,their consumption power,consumption habits,etc.have obvious differences,and ultimately have different effects on consumption,so how will different population structures affect consumption?In the process of exploring this issue,this paper will select the national residents as the research object,and take the three aspects of population age structure,urban and rural structure and income structure as the research content,and study the population structure change of China through the qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.The impact of consumption and trying to answer the above questions.On the basis of reviewing and combing relevant literature and theory at home and abroad,this paper firstly analyzes the impact of population age structure,urban-rural structure and income structure on the consumption scale and consumption structure of residents.Secondly,with the relevant data,the statistical description and analysis of the current population age structure,urban and rural structure,income structure,and the current consumption scale and consumption structure of China are carried out.Thirdly,using the inter-provincial panel data of China from 2003 to 2017,an empirical analysis of the fixed effects of China's demographic changes on the consumption scale and consumption structure of residents.Finally,based on empirical research,relevant countermeasures are discussed.The main results of the empirical research are as follows:the consumption scale of China's residents has increased year by year,and the consumption structure of residents has been steadily upgraded.Among them,the problem of minority birth and aging is more prominent.In the age structure of the population,the proportion of child rearing and the proportion of working age has become a constraint on consumer demand.The important factor is the decline in the dependency ratio of children to promote consumption-type consumption.The increase in the proportion of the working-age population promotes the consumption-based consumption and restrains the consumption-type consumption.In the urban-rural structure of the population,the urbanization rate continues to rise,which has promoted the consumer demand to some extent.Improve,urbanization rate promotes the upgrading of consumption structure,which is characterized by the transition from survival consumption preference to enjoyment consumption preference;in the population income structure,the proportion of high-income population also has a significant positive impact on the consumption scale of residents,while the proportion of high-income population The rise will promote survival consumption and curb development consumption.
