STEM education was proposed by the US government.With the demand of social economy and technology for interdisciplinary talents,STEM education is gradually popularized in the world.STEM education is an organic integration of science,technology,engineering and mathematics.It emphasizes the cultivation of students' innovation and practical ability,and improves students' STEM literacy while mastering knowledge.It is conducive to accelerating the modernization of education and cultivating innovative talents,so as to reserve talents for future social development.High school geography knowledge is comprehensive and practical,involving multidisciplinary knowledge.Applying STEM education to geography teaching and creating open and interesting classes can promote the innovation of geography teaching methods and cultivate students' spirit of scientific inquiry.High school geography teaching content is comprehensive,involving science,technology,engineering,mathematics and other aspects of knowledge.Based on the CONCEPT of STEM education,this paper conducts geography teaching by integrating knowledge of other subjects,aiming at cultivating students' STEM literacy and subject literacy and improving their interest in learning geography.Firstly,the current situation of STEM education at home and abroad was sorted out through literature analysis,and the differences between studies on STEM education at home and abroad were analyzed and compared,and the concepts related to STEM education were summarized.Secondly,based on the characteristics of STEM education and the engineering design process,the STEM teaching model is constructed,including the introduction of context,scientific cognition,cooperative inquiry,design scheme,modeling,summary and evaluation.And then select the yingkou development zone,the second high school class two experimental combination control group respectively,and the selection of a new textbook geography for high schools are the content of teaching practice,teaching model based on STEM from topics,learner characteristics,teaching objectives,teaching difficult point,teaching process design of teaching case,respectively take cooperative learning,practice investigation and other methods to organize students to explore;Finally,in order to investigate the effectiveness of STEM geography teaching practice,a questionnaire survey was conducted between the experimental group and the control group,and the practical results were analyzed from the aspects of students' learning interest,STEM literacy,subject knowledge and cooperation ability.The results show that,compared with traditional teaching,geography teaching integrated with STEM education has a certain degree of enthusiasm for students' knowledge learning and quality cultivation,can stimulate students' interest in learning,enhance STEM literacy and practical ability,and is conducive to students' overall development.
