According to the United Nations,China has entered into an agingsociety since 2000,and since then the number of elderly population has continued to grow and the aging process has been accelerating.The data on the elderly population in 2019 shows that the growth rate of China's elderly population has slowed down,but the total population is still growing.The number of elderly people aged 60 and above is about 254 million,accounting for 18.1 percent of the total population.In this context,the health problems of the elderly,especially the mental health problems,have increasingly become the focus of the community.Some scholars believe that leisure education in universities for the aged can improve and promote the mental health of the aged,but this mechanism still needs the support of empirical research.This research in mental health for the elderly and the related literature of elderly leisure education,on the basis of comprehensive review and combing with the method of random sampling,from Taiyuan city A,B two elderly universities selected 387 students for effective questionnaire,so through the method of mathematical statistics to analyze the aging of the correlation between leisure education and older mental health.Firstly,the author makes a descriptive analysis of the status quo of leisure education in universities for the aged from four aspects: students' study time,number of courses,study purpose and leisure satisfaction.Then,descriptive analysis and univariate correlation analysis were carried out on the mental health status and demographic differences of the elderly college students.Finally,Logistic model was used to analyze the relationship between leisure education in university and mental health of the elderly by multiple regression.The results showed that the mental health of the elderly students was better than that of the elderly;The internal differences among the elderly students are small;Elderly students have strong learningperseverance,learning beyond utilitarianism;Elderly students have rich learning content and high leisure satisfaction;Marital status,income source,education level,number of learning courses and leisure satisfaction of students have significant effects on promoting the mental health of elderly students,that is,the older students who are married,have a high degree of education,earn by their own labor,have more learning courses and high leisure satisfaction,the better their mental health will be.In view of the above research results,some corresponding measures to promote the mental health of the elderly are proposed.Strengthen "old have learned",while promoting the development of universities for the aged,train the old people to develop the habit of using their brains;Attach importance to the economic security and service security of the elderly;Take an active part in universities for the aged to improve social adaptability;Expandeducational resources for the elderly and improve students' leisure satisfaction.
