In the context of the modernization process, especially the expansion of higher education, the proportion of women in graduate students is on the rise and has exceeded that of men. However, highly educated women who received high level education and opportunity cost is the late into the society, the resulting is a phenomenon,a lot of highly educated women in the marriageable age not married or find a suitable partner, this not only affect individual highly educated women, even so affect the family harmony, social stability and development. For this reason, this paper focuses on the topic of female's mate selection with high educational background, takes the socialization theory and social gender theory as the theoretical basis, and based on the data obtained from interviews and questionnaires, analyzes the mate selection mode of female with high educational background from three aspects: the motive, the criteria and the way of mate selection. Then, the analysis framework of "value expectation-social structure-realistic choice" was constructed to explore the logic behind the actions of highly educated women in choosing a mate. Finally, some countermeasures and Suggestions are put forward to provide the theoretical and practical basis for the society to correctly understand the educated women's choice of a mate. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)patterns and characteristics of female mate selection with higher education. The motive of choosing a mate of highly educated women shows the characteristics of "satisfying their own needs is the main motive, the influence of external factors is relatively minor, emotional needs occupy the primary position, and fertility and economic motives are still important".The criteria for selecting a mate for highly educated women show the characteristics of "to obtain stable and compatible feelings as the criterion,self-directed resources are homogeneous to match the general expectation, and preendowed resources are the important criteria for selecting a mate".The ways of selecting a mate for highly educated women show the characteristics of "limitation" and "traditionalization".(2)the action logic of highly educated women's mate selection.First, value expectations affect the behavior of highly educated women in mate selection. As highly educated women participated in social production and reproduction, they began to deny the traditional marriage pattern and social gender norms, and gradually escaped from "parents' order, matchmaker's word".Secondly, the social structure affects the behavior of highly educated women in mate selection. In terms of economic structure, participation in social division of labor makes highly educated women constantly change their thinking and the products of their thinking,so that their motives, standards and ways of choosing a mate show modernity's criticism and transcendence of tradition. In terms of cultural structure, influenced by traditional social values, highly educated women are required to choose a mate in a "homogenous matching" way, which is dominated by traditional ways.In terms of gender structure, the natural gender difference hinders the highly educated women to participate in the social division of labor effectively, resulting in their "advanced" consciousness and "backward" material, forcing them to choose between "ideal" and "reality" when choosing a mate. The trend of "homogenous matching" and even "upward marriage" of the social gender composition limits the range of the female with higher education. Finally, while value expectation and social structure alone affect the choice of a spouse for highly educated women, they also affect the choice of a spouse through mutual construction. The behavior of highly educated women in choosing a spouse is the product of the mutual construction of value expectation and social structure.
