| Prefabricated construction is the only way for the transformation and upgrading and sustainable development of the construction industry. However, due to the differences in the construction and management systems between the off-site manufacturing plants and the traditional on-site construction and the current prefabricated construction technology and management standards have not yet been consolidated. Therefore, there still exist numerous safety risks. As a result, new safety accidents may occur in the off-site manufacturing plants, and safety accidents will even increase significantly in the short term.A large number of studies have pointed out that workers' unsafe behavior is the main cause of safety accidents. However, the current research on the safety in the off-site manufacturing plants mainly focuses on the safety status of “objects”,but lacks research on the main cause of safety accidents—the safety behavior of “humans”.Thus, the reason why construction workers have involved in unsafe behaviors and accidents is still unknown. The aim of this research is therefore to investigate construction workers' safety behavior by examining the determinants of behavioral intention based on the theory of planned behavior in the off-site manufacturing plants.Comprehensive research methods are adopted in this research including literature analysis, empirical analysis, questionnaire survey and etc.Firstly, through literature analysis, the current research status on the safety management of prefabricated construction at home and abroad is summarized, and the influencing factors of workers' safety behavior based on the theory of planned behavior are analyzed.A theoretical model of the construction worker' safe behavior in the off-site manufacturing plants based on the extended theory of planned behavior is established according to the characteristics of prefabricated construction and the analysis of the influencing factors of the theory of planned behaviors.Secondly, empirical methodology is used to verify the theoretical model.Data is collected through questionnaires and processed using SEM.According to the confirmatory factor analysis of the theoretical model: behavioral attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavior control and behavioral habits have significant influence on the safety behavioral intention of construction workers,of which behavioral habits have the most significant influence, and behavioral habits have direct and positive influence on safety behaviors. While the influence of situation awareness on behavioral intention is not significant, but situation awareness can indirectly influence behavioral intention and safety behavior through the interaction with the other four factors. Finally, based on the analysis results, this paper proposes control measures of safety behavior, including focus on the cultivation of safety behavior habits, establishment of the safe working conditions, and enhancement of the safety technology standards to strengthen construction workers' safety behaviors in the off-site manufacturing plants. |
