Presentation of semantic elements is a phenomenon of grammar, and a particular word formation, which commonly takes place in nouns, verbs, and adjectives.Compound verbs featuring presentation of semantic elements normally consists of two morphemes, one morpheme derives from monosyllable verb in ancient Chinese, and the other one derives from the former morpheme's presentation of semantic elements. There is an inclusion relationship between the two morphemes. The compound verb formed as this principle can express the same meaning as the original monosyllable verb's.This research took the predicate-complete compound verbs featuring presentation of semantic elements as research objects, and inspected the word forming process and evolution characteristics.Twenty-one satisfactory compound verbs were chosen from Modern Chinese Dictionary(6th edition),these words were analyzed through fields of syntax, semantics, and evolution history.Through the analysis,we found that the time of evolution is long, and the objects appear in forms of group, single, replacement, and coexistence,For example:"huode ??" and "huoqu ??",take place in the form of group;and the trend predicate-complete compound verbs only appear in single, such as "ai'jin ??";"zengda ??" and "zengjiareplace the original meaning—"zeng ?" which means "to add";"jianmieexpress the meaning—"to get rid of" as well as "jian ?".At last, this study summarizes the influence to the predicate-complete compound verbs featuring presentation of semantic elements by both internal and external factors of linguistics. The internal factors include driving force of bisyllablization of vocabulary in modern Chinese, and support by the word structure of monosyllable words. The external factors include the communicative needs, written language effect, language user's habit, and loanwords translation.
