Self-conscious emotion is a hot topic in the development of psychology and moral psychology in recent years. It is also called moral emotion, which can help individuals to identify and correct mistakes, restrain individual bad behavior, and have important social adaptation value. Most current studies on self-conscious emotion are aimed at normal adolescents, and there is less research on deaf students.Besides, adolescence is the period of rapid development of self-conscious emotion when individuals are more concerned about themselves.Due to physical constraints, the deaf students lack the opportunity to communicate with their peers, their level of moral judgment is low,and their ability to understand moral emotions lags behind that of their peers. And good moral development has important influence on the life and study of middle school students. Therefore, this study intends to explore the characteristics of self-conscious emotion and its relationship with the prosocial behavior in middle schools.Based on the study of deaf students and health students in middle schools, this study conducted a survey by Test of Self-Conscious Emotion Affect for Adolescent and Prosocial Tendencies Measure for Adolescent, and reached the following main conclusions:(1)The Chinese version of TOSCA-A had good reliability and validity, which can be used to measure the self-conscious emotion of deaf students in middle school.(2)Middle school deaf students had the strongest experience of guilt in self-consciousness,followed by authentic pride(beta pride),hubristic pride(alpha pride),detachment, externalization, and shame-proneness.The gender difference between guilt-proneness and externalization was significant, and there was a marked difference in grades of shame-proneness and externalization. The type of hearing impairment, whether or not to wear hearing aids, and the length of time spent wearing hearing aids had a significant impact on the guilt-proneness,hubristic pride(alpha pride),and externalization of middle school deaf students.(3)The level of shame-proneness,authentic pride and detachment of middle school deaf students was significantly lower than that of hearing students, while the level of guilt-proneness and externalization was significantly higher than that of hearing students. There was no significant difference in the scores of middle school deaf students and hearing students on hubristic pride.(4)There was no significant effect on the prosocial behavior tendency of deaf students in middle school between grades and wear hearing aids.(5)There was a significant positive correlation between the guilt-proneness,hubristic pride(alpha pride),authentic pride(beta pride)and prosocial behavior of middle school deaf students.Only guilt-proneness predicted prosocial behavior, and other self-conscious emotions had no predictive effect on prosocial behavior. Thus it can be seen that the self-conscious emotion of deaf students in middle school had its own uniqueness, and the type of hearing impairment and wearing hearing device had a significant influence on it,and it was related to the prosocial behavior.
