Since the implementation of the"Chinese Volunteer Teacher”project in 2004,the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban has sent a large number of Chinese volunteer teachers to each country to meet the growing demand for Chinese language learning in the world.With the largest number of Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classes in Europe,the United Kingdom needs more high-quality Chinese volunteer teachers to teach in the Confucius Classrooms.Chinese volunteer teachers are the main force in teaching Chinese and introducing Chinese culture.Its importance is self-evident.Due to the diverse educational background of volunteer teachers,the teaching experience varies accordingly.In order to improve their abilities on Chinese teaching,Chinese cultural and cross-cultural communication and other abilities,Hanban organized pre-job training before they go to the teaching post in a designated country.After the volunteer teachers arrive at teaching posts,the designated country and Hanban organized on-the-job training correspondingly to help them solve the difficulties they encountered in work and life.The Confucius Institute at the University of London(UCL)Institute of Education is the first Confucius Institute in the world to support the development of Chinese in primary and secondary schools.Before the volunteer teachers go to their teaching posts,this Confucius Institute at IOE will also organize independent pre-job training which has been held for a long time.The training model is relatively complete,which has certain research value.On the basis of the previous research results,this research takes 35 Chinese volunteer teachers from the Confucius Institute at the University of London(UCL)Institute of Education in 2018 as the survey object.First,it analyzes the effectiveness of the pre-job training of Hanban and the pre-job training of Confucius Institute at IOE,highlighting the advantages of the independent training of the Confucius Institute at IOE,and then provides a brief analysis of the effectiveness of the Hanban on-the-job training based on the comprehensive feedback from the volunteer teachers,aiming to fully depict the training program for Chinese volunteer teachers in the UK and give some suggestions.This paper mainly uses questionnaire survey method,interview method and classroom observation method.Combined with the actual work situation of volunteer teachers,this paper analyzes the effectiveness of the three trainings from the aspects of curriculum setting,instructor and completion assessment.This paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.It introduces the origin and research significance of this paper,and summarizes the related research.The second chapter is research design,including research ideas,research objects,research methods and expected goals and innovations in this paper.The third and the fourth chapter use the questionnaire survey method,the interview method and the classroom observation method to analyze the effectiveness of the pre-job training of Hanban and the pre-job training of the Confucius Institute and summarize the characteristics of the two pre-job training.Compared with the pre-job training of Hanban,the independent pre-job training of Confucius Institute at IOE was more targeted,practical,authentic and practical,and it is better than Hanban to a certain extent.The fifth chapter briefly analyzes the effectiveness of the training of the Hanban,and summarizes the characteristics of the'training.The sixth chapter points out the existing problems of the pre-job and on-the-job of Hanban,and proposes feasible and targeted suggestions for the two trainings.Hoping that this study can provide some ideas on the Chinese volunteer teachers'training in the UK,inspire and provide reference for relevant researchers,and make a some effort for the vigorous development of Chinese international education.
