Based on the relevant literature,this thesis attempts to analyze the annual reports and hearings,and other materials of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission(hereinafter referred to as the "Commission"),with an eye to grasp the general attitude,position and view of the US congress on China's military modernization as an example.This thesis combs the Commission's annual reports and hearings over the years.According to the text analysis and statistics,the Commission's review priorities changed as far as China's military modernization is concerned during the Bush Jr.administration and the Obama administration.After analyzing and generalizing the specific characteristics of the two periods,the author makes some conclusions on the Commission's review on China's military modernization,providing a new perspective and some new information for understanding the US congress' attitude toward China's military modernization.This thesis is divided into five parts:The first chapter introduces the origin of the topic,its practical and academic significances and the current research status at home and abroad;The second chapter introduces the background of the establishment of the Commission,its staff,responsibilities and activities as well as its external evaluation.The third and fourth chapters mainly analyze the commission's reviews on China's military modernization during the George W.Bush administration and Obama administration respectively.Based on the previous analysis,chapter V provides some tentative conclusions.
