The Group Work Involved In The Alleviation Of The Loneliness Of The Empty-nest Elderly In Rural Areas

For the past years,with the acceleration of urbanization and the acceleration of rural population movement,more and more rural young adults have chosen urban development.This has led to a dramatic shift in the rural family structure.Many rural elderly and children have separated and become empty nesters.Compared with other ordinary elderly people in rural areas,the elderly empty nesters in rural areas are accompanied by lack of children,including grandchildren who are not around,and the feeling of loneliness and helplessness is stronger.Compared with the empty nesters in the city,most of the empty nesters in rural areas are less educated.When they encounter loneliness,they often lack sufficient correct cognition and even choose to ignore the existence of this problem.Moreover,their hobbies are single or even have no hobbies,which means that their ability to regulate loneliness issues remains to be discovered.At the same time,the rural lack of many infrastructures for urban communities in spiritual and cultural life,with limited capital,manpower and material resources,makes the empty nesters in rural areas show the characteristics of “desertification” in spiritual and cultural life.Therefore,it is very important and urgent to explore how to help the elderly empty nesters in rural areas to alleviate the problem of loneliness and make them better able to spend their old age.From the perspective of social work,this study takes the empty nesting old people in D village of Handan City as the research object,and uses the social work methods of group work to carry out corresponding practical research on the problem of loneliness of the existence of the group,and deepen the work of the group to ease the rural space.An important role in the problem of loneliness in the nest.In the main part of the article,the author first uses the questionnaire survey method to use the USLA Loneliness Scale(Third Edition)to actually understand the status quo of the loneliness of the empty villagers in D village,and then use the interview method to understand the loneliness of the empty nest in D village.The reasons for the problem,and on this basis,analyze the related ways of loneliness relief,and then take Maslow's demand theory and superiority perspective,social support theory as the theoretical support of this study,and the loneliness of the empty nesting old people in D village.The problem involves practical intervention.The group activities were designed from the actual problems and needs of the elderly,and a total of six group activities were carried out.Through the orderly development of each group activity,the elderly gradually gained trust and initially established a network of mutual support,which achieved the goal of relieving loneliness.At the end of the article,the conclusions of this practical study are summarized.Based on this research,several suggestions for improving the status of loneliness in the empty nesters in rural areas are put forward.
