A Study On The Status Quo Of Extracurricular Reading In Primary School Students

People can’t without a book a day.Reading is the best way to understand life and acquire knowledge.For children,reading useful extracurricular books can broaden their horizons,increase knowledge,cultivate interest,and learn to be a human being.All countries in the world pay attention to the children’s extracurricular reading and take measures to promote the development of children’s reading.After the curriculum reform in 2001,our country also began to pay attention to children’s extracurricular reading.The author works in an urban and rural joint primary school where the parents are mostly migrant workers.They don’t take their children’s study as well as their children’s extracurricular reading into accountant.In practice,the author knows that,for primary school students,they have many problems with the extracurricular reading interest,habits,contents,time and so on.Practically,the study is based on 157 students enrolled in a primary school in Dalian.I investigate from six dimensions:students’ interest,cognition,habits,approval,and time of extracurricular reading as well as the books they have,trying to explore primary school students’ reading problems and put forward improvement suggestions.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part introduces the background of the question,and expounds the significance of this research,the related research review and the concept definition.The second part introduces the research steps,research objectives,research methods,research tools and research objects.In the third part,according to the results of the questionnaire,the problems and influencing factors of extracurricular reading of students are analyzed.The fourth part,based on the status quo of the extracurricular reading of the students,gives three suggestions on how to increase interest in extracurricular reading,strengthen extracurricular reading instructions and establish extracurricular reading evaluation mechanism.
