Mind mapping is an expression of radioactive thinking which is invented to change the way of linear notes.It combines words,symbols,and images to represent knowledge.Mind mapping is important for changing students' learning styles,study habits,thinking patterns,and memory methods.It can improve student's academic performance,enhance students' initiative in learning,inspire students' creativity,and help students build a knowledge network.So that students can form a new and effective learning method.The purpose of this study is to apply mind mapping to the geography teaching process so that students can master knowledge and memory knowledge more quickly,develop students' divergent thinking.This paper mainly adopts literature analysis,questionnaire survey method,experiment method,interview method and classroom observation method.The theory of brain science,constructivism,information processing theory and channel coding theory are taken as the theoretical basis for the study.A questionnaire survey on the status of geography learning in high schools,a survey on the use of mind maps,and a student interview table are designed.First-hand data on the mind mapping drawn by the students were collected,and the data is analyzed and processed.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)We know that the senior students' interest in geography learning is not high.According to the survey of the geography learning situation of high school students.Mainly due to the difficulty of geography knowledge,the students' love for geography and the influence of teachers on students' interest.(2)Through the use of mind mapping in the teaching process,we can draw the principles and strategies of the teaching process.In the pre-teaching process,teachers need to make sure that students have known and are able to draw maps correctly,and put forward specific preview goals and preview content.In classroom teaching,teachers should learn to choose appropriate content,and instruct them to inspire and guide students in drawing.The principle of consolidation is followed in reviewing teaching to allow students to understand the role of mind mapping in divergent thinking.(3)The application effect of mind mapping is remarkable in the teaching.The questionnaire shows that after the application of mind mapping for geography teaching,students' interest in geography has increased by 52%,and students' memory has also been greatly improved.From the mind mapping drawn by the students,it can be concluded that the learning methods of the maps can bring about great convenience for the students to understand knowledge,remember knowledge,organize knowledge,and summarize knowledge.(4)The result of experimental class is higher than the control class,Mind mapping is greatly improve the students' academic performance.By analyzing the teaching results of the experimental class and the control class,we can see that there are no significant differences in the geography average scores between 50 students in the experimental class and 51 students in the control class,and the control class is higher than that in the experimental class.After a period of time,the difference between the experimental class and the control class is still small.Five months after the application of the mind mapping,the results of the final exam show that the difference between the experimental class and the control class is obvious.So the method of teaching and learning of mind mapping is effective.
