Social Work is a major that places great emphasis on practical experience and process,and therefore,its teaching of professional knowledge and design of professional services are both practice-oriented.Currently,to develop the Social Work major in China has risen from the social appeal level to the national decision-making level.The building of a social work talent team has ushered in unprecedented opportunities,while the development of Social Work education is also confronted by huge challenges.As the higher vocational education of Social Work is one of the most important ways for the training of professionals,its teaching quality,especially of practical courses,is a “bottleneck” that must be broken through in the process of talent cultivation.The teaching of practical courses is of decisive significance to professional education,skill training and career development.Based on the Theory of Reflective Practice,the present study investigates the relevance and feasibility of the Action-Reflection Mode to the teaching of practical courses for the major of Social Work in higher vocational education.The study adopts literature,interviews and questionnaires as the main research methods.Among them,the interview method has been used to learn about the views and suggestions of related teachers and students on the current teaching mode of practical courses for the major of Social Work in higher vocational education by conducting in-depth conversations with them.The questionnaire survey method has been used mainly to grasp and analyze the changes of the research objects before and after the introduction of the Action-Reflection Mode.Through the research,it has been found that the teaching of practical courses for the major of Social Work in higher vocational education guided by the Technical Rational Mode faces two dilemmas: first,the teaching process emphasizes theories and neglects practice;second,theories do not match practice in the practical process.Based on these two problems,it can be found out that the Action-Reflection Mode can make up for the defects of the Technical Rational Mode and also has a high degree of compatibility with the characteristics of the major of Social Work in higher vocational education.In view of this,on the basis of reflections on the teaching of practical courses for the major of Social Work in higher vocational education,this study attempts to introduce the Action-Reflection Mode into the teaching activities of practical courses.Firstly,it constructs a practical teaching field through the use of the Action-Reflection Mode;secondly,based on the teaching reform of the “Social Work Project Planning” course,its exploration results show that it is feasible to apply the Action-Reflection Mode to the teaching of practical courses for the major of Social Work in higher vocational education.
