It is not easy in terms of higher vocational education to train those personnel with highly professional skills who can play important part of work and can effectively solve production problems. And currently, the social transition is in the rapid development of China, that forcing the vocational education to explore a development mode for itself in this society which with large population, high demand for education and talent.By questionnaire survey and investigation, author had an objective view of the current situation of higher vocational education, and figure out the problem and the root cause through a brief statement and analysis on the situation. On this basis, this thesis suggests practical teaching mode which put more emphasis on comprehensive ability, and the author tends to have a deep research for a teaching method more suitable for the current teaching mode in China-- construction of ability oriented teaching mode in higher vocational education.This thesis is in five steps listed as flowing, first of all, the author made a description and analysis on the correct situation of higher vocational education, and raised the problems they should face to. Secondly, the author states the point that practical teaching mode should be comprehensive ability oriented based on a deep study on foreign researches. Thirdly, there constructed a teaching mode on the basis of practical teaching mode with the support of systematic theory, and lists four basic points to make sure that this teaching mode could be carried out smoothly, that is goal and idea, condition and assurance, contents and organization, quality and monitoring. finally, author states a preliminary idea of higher vocational education.The thesis aims to provide a solution for the existing problem of current practical higher vocational education by ability oriented teaching mode. In this way, training of applicable human resource with both solid theory and practical ability who can be competent in production, construction, service and management.A practical teaching mode of higher vocational education which meets the needs of the current condition of China could be a breakthrough of personnel training.
