Today, the modern social work has had about thirty-year history. Social work has been paid more and more attention and its professionalization is needed by a growing number of civil people either from political or popular perspective. In order to promote the development of social work in China and to perfect the social utility of this profession, it is necessary to do researches on the education of the Master of Social Work—the birthplace of social workers. This paper is focusing on the MSW students of S University, aiming at finding problems and proposing solutions through evaluating the Action-Reflection Education Mode’s effects on training social work students. The writer is hoping that the research results may contribute to the development of social work industry.This paper uses the following two ones, questionnaire and depth-interview, as main researching methods. Questionnaire method is used to know and analyze the backgrounds, the changes before and after taking the Action-Reflection Education Mode and the evaluation towards MSW education in S University of all the research objects; depth-interview is used to grasp the realest, the most private and the most inherent evaluations, views and feelings of research objects towards the MSW education in S University that is based on the Action-Reflection Education Mode through deep communication.After analyzing the questionnaire information and depth-interview materials, the writer finds that the Action-Reflection Education Mode of MSW education in S University is effect and is couraged to keep on going on the following four parts:helping students build correct professional identity and values, helping students gain more professional knowledges and skills, helping teachers develop necessary tutor roles, helping organize extracurricular involvements well. On the other hand, the Action-Reflection Education Mode of MSW education in S University has four problems as below: it fails to increase students’ profession related job appetite; it need to do more with satisfying students need to gain enough professional knowledges and skills; it has shortages on reinforcing the effect of the Action-Reflection Education Mode and teachers’qualities; it has long way to go with tightening the relationship between students and their professional supervisors. To solve these problems, the writer thinks the following five solutions may be possible: building the connection between professional identity, professional values and career guidance, and helping students build social responsibilities; increasing courses’depth, organizing pre-course and providing more course selections; integrating resources and widening education channels; increasing young teachers’qualities and reinforcing the effect of the Action-Reflection Education Mode.
