With the promotion of the current social requirements for higher education personnel training,attaching importance to the students' subjective participation in class has become the focus of classroom teaching in universities.And class discussions are the best way to promote student participation.In-depth understanding of the actual situation of the current university classrooms and the main factors affecting student participation,not only can lay a foundation for the follow-up research,but also for the promotion of classroom teaching in universities is of great significance.This study selected a total of six different types of college undergraduates and individual university teachers as the research objects.Using the method of questionnaire,interview,and observation.The main survey of three aspects,the implementation of classroom discussion in universities,students' participation in the classroom,and the factors affecting students' participation in classroom discussion.The study found that the current frequency and form of classroom discussion in universities are more random.Relatively,the teacher's organization of the activities and the response to the discussion process are more positive,but the students'initiative is poor.And some students' personal comprehensive ability needs to be further improved.There are mainly five parts that can affect the students' participation in class discussion:First,the personal factors,including students' attitudes toward class discussion,personal character as well as ability,etc;second,the teacher factors,including teachers' behavior in the discussion,teachers' personal character,and charisma,etc;third,the environmental factors,including the environment of students'daily learning,and the specific environment in which students are involved in class discussions,etc;fourth,the content factors,including the courses learned,the content of discussion,and the organizational form,etc;fifth,other factors,such as traditional concepts and student seat choice and so on.Based on the above research results,it is recommended to improve from the following aspects.First of all,students from their own point of view,should reflect on themselves and make some adjustment;second,teachers should attach importance to the student experience and stimulate students' interest;thirdly,universities should build a good learning environment and create the atmosphere of promoting students'participation.
