Design And Practice Of Junior High School Physics "YPT Teaching" For Core Literacy Training

The current curriculum reform aims to cultivate the students' core competencies.Physics teaching is carried out to cultivate students'physics competencies in the process of teaching.At present,various forms of scientific and technological activities and academic contests have become an important means to stimulate students' learning interest and train their scientific literacy.Based on previous studies,this thesis is intended to apply the form,concept and assessment methods of International Young Physicists' Tournament(IYPT)to physics teaching in junior high schools and design an inquiry-based teaching mode---YPT teaching mode,in which students can enhance their physics literacy through exploration,discussing and debate.This thesis is divided into four parts:(1)In the first part,the author analyzes the competition rules of IYPT and summarizes the educational function of IYPT and YPT in training students'experimental skills,innovative consciousness,cooperative spirit and practical ability as well as its relationship with cultivating physical science literacy.(2)According to the teachers' and students'understanding of physics teaching and the present teaching situation,the thesis carries out an questionnaire research on physics classroom teaching based on the physics core competencies.The research subjects are 72 physics teachers from 35 junior high schools and 210 students from 46 junior high schools,covering Shanxi,Hubei,Guangdong,Tianjin and other cities and provinces.And the research results are analyzed in detail.The results show that junior high school students have a strong interest in physics and teachers attach great importance to students'ability;however,in actual practice,physics teaching is still teacher-centered and students are still the passive receivers of knowledge.The reasons are listed as follows:some knowledge is difficult for students to understand;teaching resources are poorly used;students are under great pressure upon schoolwork.(3)In view of problems existing in the present physics teaching,this thesis explores YPT teaching in terms of its position,objective,teaching resources,teaching procedures and assessment.It designs 5 procedures for YPT teaching:1)train students'problem consciousness in real situation;2)develop students' rigorous scientific attitude in the process of data collection;3)cultivate students' scientific thinking ability,exploring ability and cooperation ability in the process of experimental design and implementation;4)improve students' communication ability in the process of discussion and competition;5)help students establish their own concept of physics.(4)The thesis provides two teaching cases for YPT teaching applied in the physics teaching in junior high school.One is Measuring density of matter which is chosen from physics textbook and design based on YPT teaching.The other is The object of fugitive dust condition and application which is designed based on YPT teaching and adjusted according to junior high school applied physics knowledge competition.The experimental teaching is carried out by means of looking in classroom.And the results are analyzed:first,YPT teaching plays an important role in cultivating students' physics literacy,in which students can gain new knowledge and develop independent learning ability through exploration,learn to communicate and query through debating,and develop cooperation spirit through groupwork.;second,YPT teaching can help teachers form a new teaching view that only when teachers trust their students' ability in independent exploration can they make students the main body of the classroom;last,YPT teaching requires teachers to enhance their qualities,expand their knowledge scope and discover teaching resources that can be used in YPT teaching.
