Dewey is a famous pragmatic educationist in the 20 th century.Focusing his life on the development of moral education,and paid more attention to the combination of moral thoughts and the development of the times.On the basis of his theory and practice,Dewey constructed the pragmatism moral view.Dewey's moral education theory system made an incredible contribution to American school education during the period of American social transformation.Combining moral education theory with the actual situation in colleges and universities in China,Dewey's theory can provide a new perspective for the research of moral education in China.Through the description of the background and theoretical origin of Dewey's moral education thought,this paper describes the special historical circumstances of Dewey's moral education thought.On the basis of an overview of his major works on moral education,this paper analyzes the connotation of his moral education theory and summarizes his inherent ideological essence and historical limitations.Based on Dewey's moral education thought,we should analyze the profound connotation and focus on the cultivation of people's personality considering the challenge of the moral education in the new era.Moral education plays a very important role in the process of moral education and innovation activities experience and open-mode of moral education to reveal Dewey's moral education thought enlightenment on moral education.The workers of moral education in universities should attach importance to the practical application in colleges and universities,so as to improve the moral cognition and moral judgment and the ability to deal with social problems,to prompt students assuming social responsibility,to help students grow into an ideal people to support our nation's development.
