| Teaching language and teaching culture are inseparable.As an important portion of cultural teaching,Chinese Talent Course has a strong practical feature.It can not only cultivate students’ practical abilities,but also stimulate students’ interests in learning Mandarin.Introducing Chinese talents into the course of Mandarin moderately,not only contributes to the intercultural communication,but also has a great help for making the Mandarin course more diversified and active.Based on the classroom teaching in St.Paul’s High School,and the author’s teaching experience for one year,this thesis attempts to use some methods,such as the literature analysis,questionnaire survey,interview and observation,tries to study the necessity of taking Chinese Talent Course,the problems and solutions.According to the results of the survey,it puts a plan that adds language knowledge,cultural background and talents into the Chinese Talent Course.Specifically,the thesis is divided into five chapters: The first chapter “Introduction”: explains the research background,significance and status,it combines the relationship between language teaching and cultural teaching and related research theories,and proposes some research methods.The second chapter “The necessity of the Chinese Talent Course”: explains the necessity of taking the Chinese Talent Course includes the characteristics,classification and advantages.The third chapter“The study of Chinese Talent Course in St.Paul’s High School”: conducts a questionnaire survey of students who have taken Mandarin courses,and interviews three teachers of the Confucius Institute in Scotland.The survey analyzes the degree of students’ understanding and affection about Chinese culture.According to the results,the fourth chapter “The plan of teaching Chinese Talent Course in St.Paul’s High School”: selects two Chinese talent courses,calligraphy class and paper-cutting class,to design and explore the content and ways of teaching Chinese Talent Course.The fifth chapter “The problems and suggestions about the Chinese Talent Course in St.Paul’s High School”:summarizes the shortcomings of the current Chinese Talent Course,and puts forward reasonable suggestions.Through investigation and research,it is found that the Chinese Talent Course is very popular in St.Paul’s High School,and students prefer the hands-on experience.However,there are still some problems.Teachers should formulate suitable designs for local students based on their interests.And the section of “Conclusion”:summarizes the main views,and points out the innovation and deficiency of the research. |
