As the foundation of science education, primary school science education has received more and more attention. With development of educational technology, the Interactive Response System(IRS)comes into the vision of primary school education. The author in this study designed primary school level science curriculum by integrating the CATAALYST theory of IRS and "5E" teaching model of science, and carried out an experiment in school C.The study involved two parallel classes of 5th grade and used a quasi-experimental design.Student learning outcome was collected through measurement and observation. The results indicated that:(1)student perception of science course and science model cannot change in a short period of time;(2)student interests and attitudes toward science increase during the course, but dropped significantly one month after the course;(3)instruction design in both experimental and control groups lead to student gain of scientific concepts and knowledge;(4)the design of this study(experimental group)helped students better maintain their deep understanding of science.
