In the latest high school Chinese curriculum standard,"aesthetic appreciation and creation" is an important part of the core quality of Chinese subject.This means that teachers must cultivate students' ability to appreciate literary works in reading teaching.Novels are probably the most popular and interesting works of literature for high school students in their daily reading.However,most of the students can only reach the level of reading and understanding stories when they read novels,and they do not have the ability to appreciate novels.This may be because the current high school novel teaching,too much entangled in the ideological content of the novel,but ignored the artistic form of the novel.This study attempts to find a set of methods to teach senior high school students in the theoretical results of new criticism and close reading cases,so as to improve students' aesthetic quality.The thesis is divided into three main parts of introduction,text,evaluation reflection and conclusion.The main body consists of two chapters.There are three main tasks in this part,First of all,combined with the relevant theory of new criticism,this paper carefully analyzes the examples of close reading in novel appreciation,and summarizes the methods of close reading of new criticism.Then,in the process of refining the method,combined with the high school novel teaching,it puts forward: Guide students to pay attention to the form of speaking;Help students to find the connection among the three elements of the novel;After adequate reading,try to find the irony,metaphor and symbol in the novel;Guide students to pay attention to the author's handling of materials;to promote reading by writing,encourage students to write the understanding and analysis of the novel.Finally,put the detailed reading methods and application ideas into practice,This paper makes a close reading of Yu Hua's "going out for a long journey at the age of 18" and Lu Xun's "blessing",and completes the teaching design of "blessing" according to the application thinking.In the part of evaluation reflection and conclusion,the paper reflects on the advantages and disadvantages of the new criticism theory applied to the high school novel teaching,and discusses the application prospect of this study.This paper summarizes the three most important inspirations that the new criticism theory can bring to the teaching of novels in Senior High School: the first is the way of reading from form to content.The second is to regard the novel as an organic whole.The third is to attach importance to irony,metaphor and symbol in the novel.
