Reading teaching, as one of the most important parts in Chinese teaching in middle schools, is an important way to acquire knowledge and advance ability for students. With the development of the curriculum reform, reading teaching has been furthered in Chinese teaching in recent years. However, reading teaching in Chinese has been done for show such as reading only for reading, discussion only for discussion, dialogue only for dialogue,due to deviated comprehension of teachers for the new curriculum criterion.Chinese curriculum should be dedicated to the form and development of students' quality of Chinese and culture. Reading teaching is a dialog process among students, teachers and texts. Hence, based on the present situation of reading teaching and the aim of Chinese teaching, reading teaching must be carried out deeply. Such reading teaching brings on multi-level dialogue among students, teachers and texts based on texts and paid attention to experience and feeling from students.The necessity and feasibility of close reading in Chinese teaching in middle schools are analyzed in the paper referenced as the correlation theory of close reading of The New Criticism and combined with the new meaning of close reading in Chinese teaching given by experts and scholars. At the same time, how to carry out close reading is researched in detail and actively put into practice. Some feasible methods of close reading are put forward. Reading is the first step during the close reading process.The key to close reading is to look for an entry point to texts. Such entry points go as follows:language, language situation, details, internal organizational structure of texts and so on. In addition,methods of close reading in Chinese extracurricular reading are studied preliminarily. In a word, essence of texts can be grasped and core value of texts be dug up by the close reading.Close reading, as a new reading method, has expanded an immense space for Chinese reading, which bring teachers and students to enter into texts really and truly and bring about dialogue among teachers, students and texts.Of course, close reading known by people is a gradual process, so methods of close reading will be a long-run searching process.
