Objective: The needs of tennis referees is witnessing a great increase with the globalization and standardized development of China's tennis events. As the highest title in China, tennis referees of national level hold an important position while the quality of this team still needs to be improved. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to improve the quality of tennis referees of national level by strict it's quality control with a more complete and specific performance evaluation indicator system. The purpose of this study is to establish a performance evaluation indicator system for tennis referees of national level with an expectation to provide a reference for the scientific assessment of their performance. Methods: Literature review and interviews were applied to build the initial evaluation indicators system frame. Then using Delphi to select and determine the final index by two rounds of expert consultations with questioners.Next, judgment matrix is built by comparing the mean value of each index in pairs with Satty scale. Finally,Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)was adopted to compute weight coefficient of each indicators.Results:(1)The performance evaluation indicator system established includes three first-level indicators which are knowledge reserve, professional performance and basic personal qualities, eight second-level indicators which consist of professional knowledge, professionally related knowledge, ability of normal operation, ability of rule application, foreign language level, physical and mental quality and moral quality and 33 third-level indicators including tennis rules, duties and procedures and so on.(2)The weights of first level indicators were 0.4286(knowledge reserve),0.4286(professional performance)and 0.1429(basic personal qualities);the first three indicators in the second level are professional knowledge(0.3429),the ability of normal operation(0.165)and the ability of rules application(0.165).(3)The questionnaire return ratio of two rounds' expert consultation were 0.87 and 0.88 respectively,Cr 0.88 and 0.90;the variable coefficient of first round varied from 0.04 to 0.21,second round 0.00 to 0.15,and the variable coefficient of every index in the second round's consultation were all smaller than that in the first round;Cronbach ? of each round was 0.996 and 0.925,validity 0.81 and 0.85 respectively.(4)Weight consistency test: CR of index in the objective level was 0.000;CR of index in the principle level varied from 0.000 to 0.0077;CR of index in the scheme level varied from 0.000 to 0.0516.CRs of all indicators weight were all less than 0.1.Conclusion:(1)Now,the performance evaluation of China's tennis referee in national level is not systematically enough in its content and is too subjective in both assessing subject and form. It's practical to evaluate and filing national-level referees' performances.(2)Knowledge reserve and professional performance share the same biggest weight, from which we can see that the key to improve one's refereeing performance is to build a solid knowledge base and to increase one's professional skills.(3)The evaluation system established can help to enrich the researches of tennis referees' performance,to provide a tool for the assessment and evaluation of tennis referees' performance of national level and to make it possible to evaluate and file their referring performance.
