The Impact Of Supply Chain Quality Risk Management On Firm Quality Performance

In recent years,the division of labor in the industry,separation of product design,manufacture,sales and use,caused the frequent occurrence of the quality risk emergencies in the market.Supply chain quality risk management(SCQRM)has become a hot spot of research.On the one hand,SCQRM make firms aware of unforeseen malignant events from the supply chain thus react in advance.On the other hand,SCQRM make firms more able to respond quickly and effectively to the negative results and other uncertainties or threats in the supply network.In this process,related resources within target firm,top management support and information technology,all play important roles.Therefore,this paper develop a theoretical model including supply chain quality risk management,top management support,information technology and firm quality performance based on the principal-agent theory and social technology system theory.It divides the supply chain quality risk management into four dimensions,risk shifting,risk sharing,risk avoidance and risk treatment,examining their impact on firm quality performance,considering the moderating roles of top management support and information technology at the same time.Data from 319 Chinese manufacturers were collected and AMOS 17.0 and SPSS 20.0 were used to carry out hypothesis testing on the relationship model.The results shows that risk shifting,risk sharing and risk avoidance have significant positive effects on firm quality performance.The moderating test results shows that top management support has a significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between risk sharing and firm quality performance.Information technology both have a significant positive moderating effect on the relationship between risk shifting and quality performance,risk sharing and quality performance.This study indicates that in the supply chain environment,Chinese manufacturers should choose the appropriate supply chain quality risk management strategies according to their own production and operation,specifically including risk shifting,risk sharing and risk avoidance,in other words,signing correct risk agreements with suppliers.At the same time,quality risk management strategies should be supported by top management,so as to better carry out quality risk management activities.Firms should also establish excellect information technology system to provide support for quality risk management activities.
