Nowadays,the economic ties between countries are getting closer and gradually forming an integrated economy,which is called global economic integration.The integration of global economy has brought opportunities for national economic development,as well as the huge risk.Most countries in the world adopt socialist market economic system,resulting in a highly competitive market.For enterprises to be able to gain a foothold in the international market,they must improve their competitiveness and keep in touch with markets.Therefore,it is very important that establish an efficient and low-cost operation management mode under the new market conditions.Based on the Toyota production mode,lean production was developed in Japan in the 1960 s and 1970 s by summarizing the advantages of Toyota production mode.The core idea of lean production is to eliminate all inefficient effort and waste and to make the production system flexible and efficient.The concept of lean production has been adopted by a large number of enterprises because of its high performance and effectiveness.By encouraging all staff participating the production management and reducing the waste(production waiting,overstocking and product design waste etc.),lean production can help the enterprises to increase productivity,reduce cost and enhance their competitiveness.Firstly,the paper introduces main view and scientific achievements of lean production which include its definition,theory,current application and development.Then,this paper gives a detailed research and analysis on present status of production and operation of S company and problems in production.The feasibility of implementing lean production is verified by the use of SWOT analytical method.The implementation plan and implementation steps of lean production tools and methods(such as 5S management(Seiri?Seiton?Seiso?Seiketsu?So You),SMED(Single Minute Exchange of Die),PDCA(plan,do,check,act),etc.),as well as the benefits from the tools application,are introduced in detail in the paper.Next,develop the lean production evaluation index system for S company by combining continuous improvement method filed by Mr.Masaaki Imai with the actual situation of S company.In the end,after the evaluation indicators are fully fulfilled,the author makes proposals on the developing direction and main measures should be taken for further implement of lean production to form a virtuous cycle of improving production efficiency and reducing production cost.
