Rapid technological innovation and increasingly fierce social competition have brought drastic changes to the internal and external environments of organizations, not only making enterprises face an increasingly severe competitive situation, but also giving birth to new changes in the Labor Market. The main manifestations are as follows:the traditional form of employment has been transformed into a diversified and autonomous form of employment, and the traditional working time in the labor market has been transformed into a full-time and flexible working time. The traditional relatively stable organizational career has been transitioned to the borderless organizational career. In this new context, many occupations are demanding higher skill levels, more complex vocational skills, faster knowledge iterations and better network support. These increasingly stringent job requirements increase the role stress of employees. At the same time,a variety of physical and mental problems related to role stress are constantly exposed, and problems such as overtime work caused by overwork are becoming more and more prominent. The resulting serious consequences not only threaten the physical and mental health of employees, but also bring negative effects to the development of enterprises and society.Based on the above background, this study investigates the General Situation of overwork in China and analyzes the situation and characteristics of the general situation of overwork at present. The data show that 76.10%of the workers are in the situation of high work burden and have the possibility of fatigue accumulation, and nearly 40%of the workers are already in the red light warning level and above of overwork. It shows that the current situation of overwork is very serious. After that, this study explores the causes of overwork from the individual level and reveals the role of stress and job insecurity on the impact of overwork.Through questionnaire design and data collection,a structural equation model of role stress, job insecurity and overwork was constructed by Amos software. The model was well adapted and tested the following assumptions:(1)Role stress has a positive effect on job insecurity;(2)Job insecurity has a positive effect on overwork;(3)Role stress has a positive effect on overwork;(4)Job insecurity plays a mediating role in the influence of role stress on overwork. This study constructs an individual-level model of the formation mechanism of overwork.and reveals the relationship between the three dimensions and the formation mechanism of overoverwork through intermediary variables. Finally, this study combines the national conditions,in view of the current situation of the severe situation of over-labor,starting from the role of stress on the direct role of overwork and job insecurity in the intermediary mechanism of two major ways, this paper puts forward some strategies to prevent and deal with the overwork from three aspects:the individual decompression system, the enterprise management system and the social support system,in order to help the individual, the enterprise and the society reduce the adverse effects brought by the overwork.
